FSU to suffer additional sanctions?

According to tomahawknation.com

One Nole site is reporting that FSU will forfeit the 2007 season and have additional scholarship restrictions double that of FSU's self assessed penalty, and for three years instead of two.

The forfeit of games, if true, would change the JoPa Bobby race significantly
I'm gonna go to warchant and find out what is really going on.

The article used the term 'vacating', rather than forfeiting. Oklahoma vacated 8 wins for the 2005 season after the Rhett Bomar-Big Red Car Dealership fiasco a couple of years ago, but they ended up having the wins reinstated upon appeal.

espn

But if the wins are 'vacated' and that stands, the wins would officially be deducted from Bobby's W-L record, but there would be no increase in the loss column.

If Bowden knew about or even should have known about the violations (acedemic fraud, etc.) I would think it should be the end of Bowden at FSU; especially since Jumbo Fisher will be owed $5M if he isn't the head coach after the 2010 season per:

According to Fisher's contract with FSU, if he isn't the Seminoles' head coach by January 2011 the Seminoles' booster club would owe him $5 million the same amount Fisher would owe the university should he decide to leave before January 2011.

I'm not so sure Bowden knows his name anymore let alone anything else going on.

The dick measuring contest he and Joe Pa have going on at their age is embarrassing. Hopefully this will end it before we actually see one of them die on the field.

If Bobbah has to vacate six or seven wins, and the Noles get hit with scholly restrictions and/or bowl bans, it is mercifully over. The rationale for giving Bowden 2 mil a year to roam the sidelines and hum Glenn Miller tunes to himself will be gone when the race for the all time wins thing is gone. They chuck Bobbah and install Fisher so that Jimbo does not get the 5 mil bonus, and JoPa rides into the sunset on his Hoveround.

At least that is my dream.

The only one who could actually die on the field is Bowden since GrandPa has become a fixture up in the booth.

True.

Which of course makes me think they are getting ready to do a weekend at Bernie's at PSU until Bobbah does drop dead on the field so the Nits can say they won.

the worst case scenario just got worse for FSU.

FSU fans were waiting for JoePa to retire, and then Bobby would have 1 year left to overtake his win record.

Now Bobby will be deducted a seasons worth of wins. Whenever JoePa retires, Bobby will have multiple seasons worth of wins to make up.

We should all be grateful JT has essentially put a time limit on his coaching career. When he retires, many will say it was too early, but everyone should keep in mind these 2 guys, who aren't even shadows of what they used to be.

Economic woes hit FSU athletics | tallahassee.com | Tallahassee Democrat

"What we are doing right now is looking at a 10-percent reduction in our budget
for next year, 2009-10, which is a huge (measure). We have not finished that study
to see how we get there because we have a lot of hard costs," Spetman said of such
expenses as scholarships and game guarantees.

Spetman has approached his coaches and staff to find areas where cuts can be made.
"There are about four or five items that we've said, OK, we understand you can't get it
out of there," Spetman said. "So find it some place else in your budget."

Currently, any student-athlete requiring a tutor has access to one. Next year,
that offer may be limited to mostly high-risk students.

Good news for us to have our in-state rivals going broke right about the time they get ready to hear from the NCAA. A BCSNC brings in tons of revenue from gear and other sales, and leads to increased giving to UF. In this economy, maybe that translates to not cutting giving to UF, which would be a win.

If we have more money to recruit than they do, have better facilities than they do, and can offer tutors to every student athlete who needs one, not just at-risk students, then we might get an edge. With parity, a little edge may be all we need to keep a leg up on the noles. Because of $$ problems they just scheduled USF in an attempt to fill their stadium up. The Noles cannot afford to give a big check to a rent a win that does not bring in a full stadium. So they will play USF in 2012 and have to do a return game.
The economy is affecting everything.

A return game in Tampa :yow2:. Hard times there in deed. If there offense and team continues to struggle and Jimbo takes over I'd think peoples patience for him will be thin to start with
