This could make for some awkward situations in the huddle.

A WR comes back after Sexton was scrambling, says "God, I was wide open!" - will the rest of them crack up?

Is there more pressure on the FSU QB after the Chris Rix era of 15 losses in 4 years? Or is it the opener against Miami, who's beaten then 6 straight since the 1999 NC year for the 'Noles?

Well from a football point of view FSU, is now officially fucked in the QB department. Even if Wyatt has a ressurection and comes back by the fall it was shakey at best this spring between him and the other QB's.

How ironic will it be if they are longing for Rix this fall after spending the last 3 years wishing he were gone?

Seriously, I had a friend years ago who was in law school when he was diagnosed BiPolar...he would call me and say-"I am, the I am..I am the Lord" at which point I would stifle a laugh and ask:"Who are you?" and he always claimed to be God. He was usually on his free weekends at the County.

I found out later that some manics with bipolar do have this "God" fixation....he's in some trouble nonetheless..... :(

Bipolar individuals have a tough row to hoe. An otherwise normal world turned upside down. Hard on them, hard on loved ones and friends who ofttimes don't understand the condition initially. If that's the case here, hopefully this lad will get medications and long-term counseling, both of which can be very helpful to create a better life. BP is a tough label and condition. You wouldn't wish it on an enemy.

From the perspective of someone who is actually bipolar, this situation is still shocking, even having had the illness my whole life. For Sextons antics to have been 100% because of the illness, he would have needed to have been having a manic episode that was of a magnitude that would be off the charts. During a manic episode, a person feels euphoric to the point of delusional behavior, and engages in impulsive, risky, spur of the minute decisions. Such decisions are often monetary or sexually related.

During a manic episode, which is what this is if it is bipolar, you would see some delusional behavior. But episodes are like earthquakes, they can be measured for severity. For him to be lying in the middle of the road, and acting so strange, I would think that there was something else, and not just his illness that caused this outburst. In my entire life, I have never had an episode this severe. Manic episodes of this magnitude are rare.

Even so, if it was totally his illness that caused this he will need a lot of help and will probably need to be closely monitored for at least 6 months. Either way you shake it, this is a huge hit for FSU.

I have worked at the Psych hospital at OSU for the last 3 1/2 years and speaking from my experiences Wyatts break from reality can easily be chalked up to a bipolar diagnosis. Many young people go undiagnosed because they are just viewed as having alot of energy. If Wyatt did have a very severe manic episode it could have led to drug and alcohol use followed by little to no sleep. When some patients come in manic they have a flavor of invincibility. They can go all day and night while only sleeping 1 maybe 2 hours. The lack of sleep can lead to delusional thinking and even psychosis.

It sounds as if he totally lost touch with reality to me. I am not sure he will need to be monitored in the hospital for 6 months or not but he will be seeing a psychiatrist for a long time weather he is bipolar or not. I am sure he will be started on a mood stabilizer which does not take that long to build up in your system. The biggest problem for many people with this unfortunate diagnosis is not taking their meds as prescribed.

I hope he gets him self together and makes the most of his future.

It could very well be chalked up to his illness. My question is, was there a possibility that drug use or severe alcohol abuse, coupled with his condition, caused the outburst? To me it seems that with an episode of this magnitude, along with having been at a concert, indicates to me that while his is mentally ill, and that contributed, he might also have been on something at the concert. The combination of drug and or alcohol abuse magnified a problem that was already there and caused it. I'm just not sure that it was only bipolar.

I totally agree with you. Many patients that are admitted to OSU also have some sort of drug or alcohol problem as well. I am not trying to say any different.

I guess what I meant to say but didn't is that he may have gotten some bad shit some where and totally lost it. Unfortunatly this may have triggered his first break, wheather it be full blown shizophrenia or a bipolar disorder. Street drugs are not good no matter how you look at them. We had a high school kid who who totally lost it just from smoking weed.

My hopes are that he gets things turned around.
