FSU favored by 70.5 over Savannah St

Just saw this on TV, where they were discussing whether or not FSU will cover the spread. I've never seen a bigger spread before (now that I've teed that up, everyone should take a swing...).

You should have seen this girl I met on Fat Tuesday 2002 in Dayton. Talk about a big spread. I took the holiday literally I was told.

On Jack Arute's Sirius/XM radio show either he or one of his underlings mentioned that that's the highest point spread ever. I'm not going to do the work to confirm that, though.

FSU can cover if they wanted, but I agree they won't...they don't want to take the heat for running it up.

Oklahoma State beat this team 84-0 last week. I don't think FSU would get too much grief if they're in the same neighborhood as that. Savannah State will just be happy to walk away from these two game with a big bag o' cash.

Ordinarily I'd agree, but with the national talk about the spread FSU winning by 71 or now could look like FSU running it up on purpose just to cover the spread. I think FSU plays its first teamers until early/mid second quarter when they're up 35-0 and then empties the bench.

Do the favored teams get anything out of playing dogs with this much of a disadvantage? Seems pointless, aside from a guaranteed win and an empty stadium by the 4th quarter. Play a MAC team or Sun Belt team at least.
