Sorry, no link but our illustrious Columbus Dispatch reviewer Frank Gabrenya wasn't impressed with 300 and closed his review with "I suppose wrestling fans have to find something to watch between pay-per-view smackdowns."

wow

Just got back from the theater. The first thing I said as I stood up at the end of this movie was "Holy Shit, that was one of the best movies I've ever watched"(actually said those words out loud and too myself). It really was one of the best movies I've seen in a long, long time. I'm not one to watch a movie more than once but this is a movie I will probably buy and watch many more times. Absolutely great flick. If you think I'm overstating it try not to pass judgment until you've seen it. I'm curious to know if I'm in the minority or if you guys liked it as much as I did?

I really liked the movie. It was exactly what I expected it to be. A great action flick. There were several occasions where it looked like they just used some scenes from Gladiator (wheat field flash backs, respect and honor vs. strength and honor, secret meetings with a senator, etc.) but overall it was a very entertaining, visually stimulating movie. I'll probably try to see it at an IMAX before it leaves theaters.

Quick question. Do I need to be sober to enjoy this movie? Meaning, I plan on drinking now, and drinking at the theater. Do I need to pay attention not to get lost, or is it just a good Gladiator movie?

FYI, it is showing at marcus cinema's ultrascreen through thursday.
Thanks. I live in Dayton, and probably won't be in Columbus until next weekend. The closest IMAX that's actually playing 300 right now is in Sharonville. Do you know of any IMAX locations in Columbus that might be showing it next weekend?
