I've gotta admit that I'd feel better about the whole thing if tOSU had won The Game that day, and then wrapped up the MNC with their 42-21 Rose Bowl win over USC.
But since tOSU had a 10-0 lead before it ended up in a tie, I'd say that Corny Greene's thumb (he completed zero passes that day) had more to do with the result than TSUN getting fired up from the banner incident.

I've always heard/read Woody's play calling had more to do with it than anything else. That for the second half of The Game and the first half of the Rose Bowl he almost had a mutiny the team felt so handcuffed. 1st half of The Game and second half of the RB would seem to lend some credence to that.
Our cheerleading squad and the TSUN football team have one thing in common; they both have "spinners".

To be honest, I felt like the play-calling cost us the game that day. But my father and my uncle insisted that the play-calling was because of Flam's thumb. My response was that I'd rather have seen Greg Hare run the offense if Cornie couldn't do anything but hand-off or pitch-out on 3rd and long.
