ADA - Former NFL and University of Michigan standout Tyrone Wheatley will serve as an assistant football coach at Ohio Northern for the 2008 season.

Wheatley will coach the Polar Bear running backs this fall as part of the NFL’s Minority Coaching Fellowship program.

“We are thrilled to have Tyrone on our coaching staff this season,” ONU head coach Dean Paul said. “Obviously he brings a great deal of experience and knowledge to the program. He will have an impact on our young men, especially our running backs.”

OK, this is an Ohio State site, but even I (born in Columbus and an Ohio State alum) have to say this...

I'm not sure how a person who was born in Michigan, raised in Michigan, played high school ball in Michigan, and then went to Michigan can be called a "traitor".

I can call him unfortunate (for being born in Michigan). I can even call him underprivileged for the same reason. But he supported his hometown school. I never rooted for him because of where he went to college...but he never turned traitor.
