Anyone know of a good (free) converter for .flv files? I can deal with whatever output they give, I just need to get them out of the flash video format and into something a little more useful.

ahh I had a FLV to MPEG converter not too long ago before my re-format.. gotta love converting those youtube vids.. have you tried typing in 'flv to avi convertor' or 'flv to mpeg' in yahoo?

I use VLC media player to play them, works very well. I don't think that's what you want though, if you want to convert them.

I already have VLC, I know it's the best out there. (I also did a quick google search for flv converter, but figured I'd ask if anyone had experience with this as well. It's often easier to find what other people are already doing. No sense in re-inventing the wheel when I can find it on Buckeyeplanet :) )

For converting flv to any digital video files I use Flash to Video Encoder. I have trial version without time limit and I use it a long time. it works fine for me and I glad that i have this converter.
