Florida's current woes explained

If we believe that Florida is still loaded with talent then the assistants leaving is the answer. I find that most likely. Though youth hurts also.
Is Urban a one trick pony like RR but had better assistants? And better talent? That looks possible also.

Florida simply doesnt have a stud qb to fit Meyers system. Losing all that talent to the NFL and losing Charlie Strong was just icing on the cake. I imagine they will be back sooner than later.

It's their own fault, had they have actually volunteered to pay Cam Newton's old man a few hundred thousand dollars maybe he would have stayed.

It most certainly was NOT that he took the laptop.

Damn - ya'll are CRAZY!

It was the fact that he was BUSTED!

:)

Gator - don't feel bad - we'll switch off who buys the bottle of Jack.

I'll buy the first bottle - as they say, misery loves company, and we're gonna be HELLA company!!!

Watch all this shit going on here at Miami, and see how they pull some coach out of their @ss.
In a few weeks, you're probably going to see an entire fanbase/alumni base go COMPLETELY off it's rocker!

It's a toss-up

For Arkansas fans, it's a toss up as to which has been more enjoyable to watch: the Texass or Florida implosions.

OK, no it's not. We hate Texass way more than we dislike Florida and the Texass meltdown this year has been sublime. From NC game to no bowl is epic. Unprecedented almost. Truly enjoyable.

But oh how I wish Florida had been on our schedule this year.

Tebow was an exceptional talent, and lots of SEC fans think his talent and drive masked some fundamental flaws in Florida's game. I don't know that I buy that completely, but many do.

Very certainly losing Mullen and Strong hurt a lot. Meyer has to be looking around and thinking to himself 'where did all my friends go?'

I think Meyer's goofball quit/don't quit/won't-work-so-hard stunt had a subtle but deep effect on the team this year.

<Digression> Didn't Billy Donovan basically pull the same stunt a few years back? Have tremendous success for a few years, then quit, only to renege on quitting, and then preside over the programs decline? What is it about Florida that does this to coaches I wonder? </digression>

When a coach won't commit to the team, why should the team commit to the coach? When Meyer reneged on quitting, only to come back and say 'I'm staying, but I'm not going to work so hard', he basically told his team that it's ok for them to do the same.

A team needs to see the coach working as hard as the coach demands that the team work.

And on top of all that, when you have a team loaded with 5 star and high 4 star athletes, you've got a team of kids that have always been the best player on the field at any given time while in high school. Many of them have gotten by on talent, and many of them have never had, or learned how, to work hard.

There is no easy fix for what's wrong at Florida right now, and GatorBoy is right - All of that is due to the tremendous success they've enjoyed for the past half dozen years.

I think the issues at Florida are overplayed right now. Every major program has down years, especially after recent success. As bad as things look now, I've got a feeling that next year they will be a contender in the SEC. The only troubling sign for them is that Meyer didn't seem to stop the bleeding in late season, so the rebuild could carry into next year.

How many people are talking about Texas and Mack Brown right now? Both teams were great last year and had bad teams this year. What do they have in common, they lost senior QB's and great talent around them. After Pryor leaves next year we could be in the same boat fellas.............I'm not saying it's likely, but it could happen. It's part of college football.

With all this said, it also shows how impressive Tressel's run has been over the past decade. I just wish some Buckeye fans would appreciate it more instead of bitching about not winning titles.
