FSU freshman shot, in critical but stable condition
Florida State freshman linebacker Ethan Pritchard is hospitalized in critical but stable condition after suffering a gunshot wound Sunday night in Havana, Florida.
Florida State freshman Ethan Pritchard shot, hospitalized
Florida State freshman linebacker Ethan Pritchard was shot Sunday night and is in critical but stable condition in intensive care at a Tallahassee-area hospital, the school said Monday.
According to the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office, Pritchard was in a vehicle outside an apartment building when the shooting happened Sunday night in Havana, Florida, which is about 16 miles from Tallahassee, near the Georgia state line.
An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
Florida State coach Mike Norvell said Monday during his weekly news conference that he was at the hospital with Pritchard's family Sunday night.
"It's obviously an extremely tragic event for the young man," Norvell said. "Grateful for all the medical support he was able to receive. Our football team, coaches, family are all here to support them. We're praying for all parts of him and the journey that's ahead. Definitely appreciate the support from everybody in the community that we feel."
In its statement, Florida State said Pritchard was visiting family at the time he was shot.

Florida State fined $50K by ACC for storming field after Alabama win
Florida State became the first school to be fined $50,000 by the ACC for violating the newly enacted event security policy after fans stormed the field following Saturday's 31-17 victory over Alabama.The league policy, which was put into place starting this season, applies to football and men's and women's basketball games and was designed to protect the safety of players, coaches, officials and fans.
ACC commissioner Jim Phillips announced the new policy in July. A second offense this season will result in a $100,000 fine. All fines collected go into a postgraduate scholarship fund, which helps league athletes pursuing graduate school.
