Florida State Seminoles (official thread)

Norvell goes 13-1 in 2023 winning the ACC Championship. His only loss was in a NY6 bowl game to Georgia with several Free Shoes players not playing (i.e. "opting out", injured, and/or transferring, etc.). Most coaches would take that season in a heartbeat. He loses the first 2 games in 2024 and social media people are looking for his replacement.....GEESH!

Anyway here's what it would cost Free Shoes to buy him out:

How much is Mike Norvell's buyout at Florida State?

Mike Norvell's seat just got even hotter after an 0-2 start. So how much would it cost Florida State to fire him?

Well, according to that new contract, Norvell's buyout in 2024 would be $6 million and then it decreases every year after. In 2025, the buyout drops to $4 million, then $3 million in 2026, $2 million in 2027 and then down to $1 million in 2029 before being $0 in 2030 and 2031.

If you read down further, it’s states FSU would actually owe him $63MM if they fired him.

Florida State is paying Memphis $1.3 million for Saturday's loss

Florida State paid $1.3 million for Saturday's game at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee against No. 25 Memphis, the former school of Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell.

The result was a 20-12 loss that dropped the Seminoles to 0-3 for the second time in the last five seasons.

Florida State is the first team ranked in the preseason top 10 poll to start 0-3 in a non-COVID year since Texas A&M did so in 1988. Penn State, ranked 7th in both polls, began the 2020 COVID-shortened season losing its first five games......

Florida State has punted on the 2024 season — there's no other way to explain the historic 0-3 start for Noles

Florida State's latest loss to Memphis is further evidence that things are slipping out of control for the Seminoles

Florida State's game against Memphis on Saturday should have been the point at which, following a disastrous start, the Seminoles came out on fire and played with passion. They should have imparted the sense that, no matter what else has happened, the entire season hinged on the outcome of this one contest against Mike Norvell's former team.

It was the perfect opportunity to turn things around. Memphis is a good team, and certainly one of the best in the Group of Five ranks, but it's also a team that Florida State should be able to beat within the friendly confines of Doak-Campbell Stadium.

But if Week 3 was a test of character, Florida State failed miserably. In front of fans sporting brown paper bags on their heads -- a telltale sign of franchises-turned-sour -- Florida State dug its own hole even deeper with a 20-12 loss. Norvell's squad is now the first preseason top-10 team to ever start 0-3 with all three losses coming against unranked teams.

This wasn't a case of the Seminoles throwing everything they had against a college football Goliath and coming up just short. Outside of a few flashes, Florida State spent 60 minutes spinning its tires in the mud with completely uninspiring football in all three phases......
