They have a poll that lists several team as to who people think is the best of the 2nd tier. I think it is kinda of an insult for the fact I don't consider Ohio State as a 2nd tier as well. Anyway, here is the link.

You misread. They aren't saying that the Buckeyes are a second tier program. They are simply including all the best teams that will likely not have a shot at the national championship.

If anything, I think they're showing good objectivity and respect.

OB is right. Although the person who started the thread referred to teams other than USC and Texas as "second tier", he didn't mean it as their standing as a program, but rather as "other-rans" for this season. Pretty cool that almost 60% of the people in the poll think that Notre Dame would lose the most games in a round-robin playoff between LSU, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, and Ohio State 9-2 (PSU and OSU are nearly tied for the least votes).
