Florida Rematch in 2007?

I hope you guys know we won't be too bad in 08 either.

Ohio State will be just fine in 2008. The defense will have mostly seniors on it and the offense will mostly have a full year as a starter under their belts.

Mo Wells will be a Senior and Beanie will be a Junior. Boeckman or Schoenhoft or whoever will be the QB and hopefully they'll have enough snaps under their collective belts to be effective, efficient QBs.

A little late...

The jury is still out on Tebow but here is where I am at:

Potential: Highly touted recruit in 06 for good reason. He has good size, strength, and good speed. His arm is strong but his throwing motion is less than text book. In his limited action in 06 he seemed to me like a gamer. He seemed to make the most of his time on the field. I understand why UF fans believe his future is bright.

Conclusion: If Tebow all of a sudden decided he wanted to transfer to Ohio State and play in the shoe I would be excited.

I saw the high school videos on Tebow and with his size, if he can throw anything like he did in HS he's going to be a monster. If he was the QB at tOSU, I would be eagerly anticipating his arrival. Time will tell what happens, if nothing else I hope to see some nice highlights on sports center.

Ya, but his biggest problem thus far has been getting the ball out quickly. Facing quick defenders every Saturday has been a challenge for him, and that is what he needs to work in. His performance in high school was out of this world, but he has looked like shit in college.

Well you have to consider a few things, the first being the speed difference between college and high school. Also, Meyer was a new coach and wanted to secure his job, so he started Leak and made it a point to preserve the season.

I think Tebow should do a lot better next year after a few starts against good teams and with receivers that he has the opportunity to be comfortable with.

That was on topic. Not like Tebow got all his numbers against those two teams and was awful everywhere else. For a freshman who was inexperienced, he sure wasn't the worst QB on the field on January 8th.

Yes I'm a Vols fan. Just because I can give others credit doesn't make me a Gator fan. A lot of you still think you guys would have won with Ginn in the whole game, so I'm not surprised you can't give credit when it is due.. :slappy:

Apparently you don't understand very much about football, so let me help you out. Ted Ginn being in the game would've made a VERY big difference in the outcome, thats not to imply that we would've won, but that it might have been closer.

Its not about Ted Ginn running back kicks, taking screens 80 yards, or getting it on the reverse. Its about the domino effect that his presence creates. Let me give you an example.

1.) Ted Ginn is on the field, in turn, this stops Florida from blitzing 6-7 guys on nearly every down ( Which was the main source of their constant pressure mind you. ) because if he gets it on the screen or quick slant across the middle, he's gone.

2.) It also stops Florida from blitzing key corners and playing their safeties shallow, which was what neutralized our running game almost completely. When you have speed like his on the field, you can't afford to let your safeties creep up, because if the pressure doesn't get there, you're giving up six points.

These are just a few examples of what one key player at one position can do to the dynamics of a football game. Florida was clicking perfectly and on all cylinders all game long, meanwhile Ohio State never got a rhythm established due to the ungodly Florida rush. Without any way to counter it, passing the ball in general turned into suicide for Troy Smith. Gonzalez and Small are fast, but they're not Ginn fast, and we needed Ginn-esque speed to break the blitzing tendencies of Florida. Guess what? We didn't have it, so our offense was basically dead in the water, or as the oh-so-classy UF fans say: " Gator bait ".

When you truly understand football, and realise that one brick being removed from the foundation of your castle can be the difference between a close game/win and a blowout, then you can come talk to me/us. Until then, please exit stage right.

Also: I'll take a Heisman trophy, an out-right conference championship, a 12-1 overall record, and a National Championship appearance over losing to Penn State in the Outback Bowl any day.

That is all.

He's banned but you owned him anyways, great post btw.

Thanks, I honestly can't stand people who don't understand football at all and then try and talk about it. The score on the scoreboard has less to do with who the better team is than people think, and the smallest things can change a winning performance into a losing one.

Like I said, I don't know if we would've won the game with Ginn or not, and its pointless to wonder, but what I do know is that he would've made a significant impact on the final score.

Official SEC Fan here

So, given our showing in the NC game I have become an official SEC fan. An SEC fan that will root for everyone non-Florida related. I hated Urban Meyer before OSU was ever ligned up to face FL and I only hated him more after the game.

Sure I have some selfish bias here and I obviously want FL to lose based on irrational reasons but I hope they fail again and again. Sure I would love a new shot at them but I could also deal with numerous 4-8 seasons before we meet them again.

Gosh I hate Florida.

I would put my money on Florida in 2008. They could be dangerous.

Picking last year's champ to win it all again the following season is always the simplistic way to analyze things. Just b/c you haven't seen the team lose in awhile and the team has a lot of talent coming back doesn't mean they'll win it all again. There are many other factors, such as opponents gunning to beat the champ and complacency setting in within the champ's lockerroom, to name a few possibilities. I remember 10 months ago when a lot of people and every UT fan under the sun thought the Longhorns would repeat. How did that turn out again? Oh yeah, a 3 loss season that was very close to being a lot worse. Mark it down right now--the Gators won't repeat.

xrayrandy anyone?

Which brings up the point that Texas will be back with an experienced QB this year and a much easier schedule than Florida.

The bucks will be OK because the schedule is pretty soft until we hit the conference. On the road in Happy Valley and Ann Arbor will not be easy, but the team will be seasoned by then.

Oh, and anyone who thinks Beanie will be here as a senior is in for a major dissapointment. Lloyd... escuse me VLloyd... will make sure the Lions draft him in the first round.
