Teacher Terminated After Allegations Of Sex With Student

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Eyewitness News learned a former teacher at a Flagler County high school is under investigation for her relationship with a 14-year-old boy.
The teacher was dismissed from Mantanzas High School, near Palm Coast, earlier this week. She is being investigated by Daytona Beach police. Students said they never imagined something like this would happen at their school with a 22-year-old teacher. They said there had been talk for weeks about the alleged incidents, but nobody believed it until Thursday.
It's a rural high school and students said the first rumors were just that, rumors.
?I heard from the cheerleaders he was having sexual relations. The kid was talking about it here and there,? said one student.
Tuesday, Seneka Arrington was terminated from her english teaching position. According to her personnel file, the first year teacher was under contract for a probationary period. And the school's superintendent said the termination involved something other than the investigation.
?We just felt like we needed to go a different direction with her and our English department,? said Bill Delbrugge, School Superintendent.
Word came Tuesday night that the Daytona Beach Police had an open investigation into Arrington. They said it allegedly involved a 14-year-old boy and the acts happened inside the city of Daytona Beach, some half-an-hour from the school where Arrington has an apartment.
Students said they saw her often in halls outside of her classroom where she taught 9th grade english.
No charges have been filed in Flager County or in Daytona Beach.
