flashback to '57...some similarities

Don Southerin

Holy crap, this just keeps getting weirder! I did a little research on Don Southerin, and I found out that his brother was Ryan Pretorious' high school rugby coach.

I'm lying. But this is an amazing similarity so far. Playing Oregon would be insane. I think I am now rooting for Florida or Oregon in the NC game.

Well I hope it keeps up because we pounded tsuns ass 31-14 up in AA that year.

OBTW, we beat Purdue in 1957 by a score of 20-7. This year it was 23-7.

I recently came across an old scrapbook someone kept of the 1957 OSU season. Its not as detailed as I'd like but its a fascinating glimpse into that season from the eyes of a contemporary.

I scanned the images and am hosting them elsewhere to save BP the bandwidth, hope you all enjoy them as much as I did.

Great stuff, Jax.

I thought of another comparison. I was in diapers for the '57 season, and for the current '07 season, Best Buckeye's wearing them!

To be fair and accurate, we also lost to a huge underdog at home in 1957. :(

Maybe it will still turn out the same way. This will officially be the wierdest year in CFB history if it does.

Thought it might be apropriate to bring this back up.

Just like '57, in '07 we lost to a 14 point underdog at home, overcame it in the polls and will play for the National Championship.

Wow.
