Has anyone seen it yet? Unfortunately I am out of town so I can't. Love to hear the early reviews.

Any other jarheads or sailors get to go to Iwo?

I am going at five today to see it. I started the book a couple of days ago...EXCELLENT book.

It seems lately Clint Eastwood can do no wrong when he does a movie...can't wait to see how this one turned out.

There was a group of Vets here that saw it on Wed for a private screening. In the paper it was said that it is the most historically accurate documentary they have seen, the best part is that is a movie though.

Vets seemed to believe that this thing could have almost been filmed in real time, it got to be good then right!

Wow, good to hear.

I remember when I was a student, right before I graduated, I went and saw 'Saving Private Ryan.' I could not believe how many WW2 veterans were there. One of the guys came up to my row, walking with his cane, and yelled "Is anybody sitting there". I knew the guy was probably a vet and helped him get settled.

Stuff like that man....priceless.

FWIW, I really thought the book was awesome. Especially the part when they landed on the island.

I actually had a chance to go through the caves on the island and had a pic snapped on top of Mount Suribachi (where they raised the flag.)

I wouldn't trade those memories for anything.
