2025 FL WR Jaime Ffrench Jr (Texas Commit)

Meh so glad I don't follow recruiting as religiously as I used to.....

Says the guy posting in BP recruiting thread
I still enjoy following it, but just adjusted expectations of the process that has changed recently. Any Florida WR (or really most positions for that matter) are typically going to take you on a roller-coaster ride until the ink dries, so I just don't get as emotionally invested as before. That or I'm getting older and wiser?

With Ffrench, he would be an incredible pickup and honestly is my favorite WR in the class. But Hartline has proven he will manage just fine at the position (regardless of how exciting it would be to land this kid).

One knows that tOSU is recruiting at a very high level, when sitting at #2 in nation (with a miserly 12 recruits), and Hartline hasn't even reeled his usual contingent of 4-5*s. Not entirely certain why that is, other than losing 3 out of 4 sophomores to the portal, and competition from other schools with a comparable QB stable, and NIL budgets. Continue to have faith here, but looking for the Maalox on the shelf....completely new dynamics, and really not attuned to it all. But always, Go Bucks!

I wouldn't expect any 4 or 5star especially at WR to commit until close to their season starting. Too many visits to be had, and money to be made on those visits. If your son was promised $5-10k PER visit to multiple schools im the country, you would want him to commit in April or May and lose out on all of that?! I sure as hell wouldn't.

pnut, a paid vacation to Tuscaloosa isn't exactly my idea of a good time, however, yeah, let the kid take all the trips these colleges are ready to shell out for. Got a chuckle, as one poster said that tOSU is holding up the entire WR contingent, as appears that waiting for tOSU to get their share of top talent means that the second tier cannot commit until some of the upper tier commit to the Buckeyes (liberal interpretation is mine). Agree with what you said, but it merely emphasizes what I said in #96, as Hartline hasn't reeled in his WRs as of today. Reading this and other sites, it also appears that there's going to be some extreme competition from home state schools for these WR talents, but most are readily acknowledging Hartline's outstanding training, use of, and applications thereof WR output in his recruitment. Go Bucks!

Just saw where Ffrench now doesn't include OSU in his top 3, and is openly lobbying for an NIL deal with Lamborghini... Honestly(and this is only my opinion) this kid can GTFOH! And that's if he's being serious about that deal. He is in no way even close to JJ Smith who didn't even ask for a deal like that openly, and honestly I wouldn't put him over Graham either. If Texas or LSU want to give him that deal, than have at it, Hartline has shown what he can do with WRs, and the amount of 1st round picks he has litters the NFL. I'm sure OSU will offer a competitive package for NIL, but expecting a Lambo in year 1, when JJ Smith has like a Dodge Durango, that's just asinine. I'm sure this recruitment will have more ups and downs, and OSU could still be in the race, but I don't see OSU providing a deal with a uber- luxury car brand for a 18yo who hasn't gained a yard in a Buckeye uniform

Geez. I will let the staff decide if he's worth taking, but that is insane if true. I am a person that has embraced NIL to an extent, but I think it has also exposed potential character flaws. Most of our players are being taken care of, but they remain humble and focused on the ultimate prize of winning a title. There is a big difference between an outlandish money grab versus a kid that wants to reap the rewards of NIL, but also is a team player that wants to win.

Can't say that I know anything on that front here, but if he's just straight out for the money then I would stay away despite the talent. But I digress, the staff has a better handle on it and I will defer to them. This staff doesn't play games in this category and will pass if that is happening.

Ok Nuts, I feel you. First time I've seen you get emotional in this stuff which, frankly, is astonishing considering how much recruiting you immerse yourself in. This stuff is looney tunes for sure and I'm inclined to agree with you 100%.

I think it is fair to say, at this point, that we all agree that NIL is a good thing. NIL, not free freaking agency. Any recruit that goes to the Top 5 programs in the country are mostly, just another great player. They don't deserve once in a lifetime money before even making the team. Before even getting on campus these kids don't actually deserve a penny unless an organization wants to promote them and they sign an advertising contract or some such but Lamborghini is a stretch for just about anyone even at the pro level except for the elite. We're out of balance without a doubt.

You’re right, I usually don’t get emotional like this over recruiting, and my apologies for that. But this instance kind of got to me, because it was a little arrogant IMO, to ask for what he did. I get negotiating for as much as you can, but I think maybe you should request that after actually producing. I’ve been one of the staunchest supporters of NIL, but if A kid like JJ didn’t get a deal close to this, it’s a pretty insane ask to me. Though I’m sure Texas will find a deal for Ffrench in the end, and best of luck if that is the case.
But in positive news, Birm believes whoever lands Ffrench won’t land Dakorrian Moore. So there’s that

I read the article and saw the Lamborghini is part of a dream deal (Mine too if I was in his shoes). But he also says that development and preparation for the NFL is the real ticket for him. He says NIL is great but the on-field issues are what really matters for him. Sounds like my kind of kid. Am I missing anything?
