So, my little girl (and only child) headed off to her first formal high school dance tonight as a freshman. It was really hard to realize that she is growing up.
Wow, is it different then back in the day. It was girls ask guys for this dance. I don't remember that never happening in my day. None of her friends asked anyone. A bunch of the kids got together in a group instead of asking someone.
When I asked why she didn't ask anyone, she replied that she didn't know if that meant she had to stick by them and only dance with them all night. She didn't want to do that. I'm thinking that I should probably be happy about that fact.
I bought her a wrist corsage, because I figured she should have a flower for a formal dance. Of course there was the obligatory formal dress, which will probably get worn once. I could have bought pants, a shirt, tie and dress shoes for that.
Nothing prepares you for this......
