First Buckeyes Game Ever! Need Help!

CentralMOBuck

Assistant Coach
Missouri Fans looking for tOSU tickets

I have been a fan of the Bucks since forever. Watching Eddie George run was my first real glimpse of this school. My little brother has also finally gotten interest in tOSU football. Any chance someone would be willing to sell some good tickets to a couple of Missouri boys? Just looking for offers right now. Due to the fact that he is still in HS and plays football we would have to find a home game that is later in the afternoon. Going to a game at Illinois or Iowa or somewhere closer would be cool, but just not the same as witnessing a game at the shoe. I'd like to get some nice tickets, to where we can easily see the game. So post up/pm me some offers and dates and I will get back to asap. The games also don't need to be Big-10 game either, something early in the season would be even better. Or if there is any place online I can look for tickets that would be superb!

Thanks for taking your time to read this!

Sorry if this should be posted elsewhere, I thought it would be read here more. First off a brief history of me being a fan. I've been a fan for quite some time(I'm 21). The first games I can remember watching on TV was with Eddie George and ever since then I have been hooked on Bucks Football and have wanted to go to a game. In the last few years my little brother has shown just as much interest as me. I have saved up enough money and my little brother is in the process of doing so, so that we can attend a game this fall. Our main problem is we would have to drive a 9 hour drive on a Friday night after my little brother gets done with his own football game. We could wait till next year after he has graduated, but we both really want to see Beenie Man(what we call him), Animal, Jenkins and Freeman play before they are gone.

Now here is where others help comes in. We don't want crappy tickets where you can't see anything either. I saw the website TicketCity - Buy US Open, All-Star Game & Kentucky Derby Tickets are their tickets guaranteed or are there other and better sites to purchase from? My next need of help is picking what seats/section(part A looks great) to sit in. We are thinking of going to a game early in the season(even thought it will be a blowout it would still be great to see).

So if anyone has any ideas of games to attend, where to sit and what not let me know.

Thanks for your help, sorry if I rambled on.:oh:

There are posts in this forum that describe how to get tickets on game day. I suggest you read those, there is good information there.

I have lived out-of-state since graduation, and have often gone back to see a game without having tickets in hand (e-bay did not exist for most of that time (yes, I'm that old)).

For me, I have always just bought tickets from scalpers. Some people don't like them, but for me they provide a valuable service. They allow me a means of getting a ticket without much leg-work on my part.

As for where to sit: There is not a bad seat in C-Deck IMHO. I have sat there more than anywhere else, partly because whenever I go the scalper route, I always go from one to the next until I find one with tickets for C-Deck.

As for how to find scalpers: they're the ones screaming that they want to BUY tickets.

Other people probably have better ideas for how to get tickets, but trust me on C-Deck.

EDIT: Be in your seat at least 30 minutes before kick-off. If you miss the ramp entrance they throw you off the top of the north end (not really, but they should)

Do we have any idea of what time those games might start. Or when we would know? The later in the afternoon for us would work out perfect.

Edit: Also we need a good hotel to spend the night in on Saturday night. And a good/decent restaurant would be great.

The first 3 home games (Youngstown State, Ohio U., & Troy) are all Noon games. Minnesota's start (last game in Sept.) hasn't been anounced yet to my knowledge.

The only other Home time set is Oct. 25th vs. Penn State @ 8:00 p.m.

I can't help you on a "good" hotel, but I'd say find the closest one to the Stadium you can (which might be a little tough at this stage, depending on the game you choose), just so you can be within walking distance of the pre-game / post-game party on Lane Ave. (HineyGate)

Restaurant? Bah! Find one of the popular campus bars or just hang out with a couple of Brats listening to the Danger Bros. :wink2:

If much of my post doesn't make sense to you, don't worry...it will after your trip.

Good luck, and GO BUCKS!!! :osu:

Here's a link I found that might be of use to you.

FYI.....A friend of mine called Holiday Inn on Lane Avenue just yesterday (July 13th) and was told plenty of rooms still available for the Ohio University game weekend.......2 night minimum. You must call the hotel and have them send you an application (you cannot just call the hotel and book a room for football weekends). One night deposit is required. With tax, you will be looking at $464.66 for the 2 nights for campus/Hineygate view.....$417.96 if you want a view of the softball field behind the hotel. Pricey yes, but you can't beat the location. They have a pretty good buffet there Saturday mornings $9, Sunday mornings the brunch buffet is even better...around $14. You could save $$ booking a hotel outside of town, but if you do.....be sure to get there early! My suggestion, see if you can get a 2 or 3 others to join you (5 allowable per room)...split the cost, and not have to worry about parking. Check out the Varsity Club (campus bar) the night before...maybe 2 minute walk from Holiday Inn...or, if you are into the karaoke the hotel bar has that on Friday night. You are definitely of the age that would enjoy Hineygate....the biggest tailgate party in the US . It is held in the parking lot in front of the Holiday Inn. Danger Brothers band, plenty of beer, women, good music, brats, pizza, sometimes BBQ. With plenty of rooms still available, I'm hoping this will be an easy game ticket to get (My friends and I will be attending). The only seats that I'm not crazy about are the South Stands. Definitely check out the forum about buying tickets the day of the game. What a valuable resource that has been to me! Again, my recommendation is invite 2 or 3 more friends to help split the cost, stay at the Holiday Inn so you can walk anywhere you want to go, and not have to worry about traffic/parking. I hope you make it, and have a great time. Go Bucks!

PS go online and download a seating chart for Ohio Stadium. If you need to resort to buying from a scalper or a private seller, this will come in very handy. *I like sitting where I can view the giant screen that sits above the south stands. Get plenty to eat/drink before entering the stadium (you are not permitted to bring food/drinks into the stadium). I have a major problem with paying $4 for a bottled water, and $8 for a tiny frozen pizza. If you are curious about the Hineygate thing, there are some small snippets on YouTube, and you can also check out this URL:

This may be a good question for Padraig......do you think there will be plenty of tickets available for this game? I wonder if it may be the same situation as last years Akron game when tickets were being sold for face value or less outside the stadium......our friend from Missouri should also be alert for counterfeit tickets.....is there some way to tell if they are fake???
Also, do not buy a "student ticket". You will need a student ID for that.

I expect there to be plenty of tix for the first 3 home games.

The easiest way to avoid counterfeit (or even 'real' that were reported lost or stolen) tickets is to buy at face value from the University. There should be tickets sold on-line @ hangonsloopy.com a week or two before the opener, and during the week for the next two (at least they did last year...you just got to 'catch' them at the right time), but those usually aren't the greatest seats.

You can also usually buy them at the ticket window day of the game, but have to stand in line for a couple hours at least, and early in the morning. And coming from Mizou without tix in hand would probably be pretty nerve racking.

The convenience of having tix in hand for 'good seats' (depending on your particular definition) will probably cost you more than what someone could get just "winging it", but it might be worth the extra jack to make sure your first trip to the 'Shoe isn't a tragic flop (no matter how monumentally small those chances may be :wink2:)
