Firefox about to get IE on its knees

CCI

Metal Rules
It looks like Firefox is unstoppable. In spite of the vulnerabilities discovered lately, the open-source browser continues to rise in the top of the user’s preferences. According to W3schools, a site known amongst web developers, Firefox reached a market share of 25%, while Internet Explorer plummeted to 64.8%. If we take into consideration the entire browsing solutions suite, Mozilla Foundation now owns a market share of almost 30%.

A study of the Secunia security company shows that regardless of all the security bugs recently discovered, the users haven’t lost their faith in the “Internet’s sly fox”, but quite the opposite, the speed at which the open-source developers took care of these problems was highly appreciated.

In November 2004, Internet Explorer had a market share of 95%, in January this year it had dropped to 84.1%, and now, according to the w3schools website, the “almighty” browser’s share of the market reached 64.8%.

If we take into consideration the fact that Firefox is not embedded into an operating system as Internet Explorer is, and does not benefit from the same kind of advertising-dedicated funds as Microsoft does, the open-source browser’s performances are even more impressive.

If the browser maintains its adoption rate, Firefox will turn from the small thorn in Internet Explorer’s side into a humongous pole, and Windows’ integrated browser might end up in Netscape’s situation, with 1% market share.

Well, it looks like its time for me to jump on the bandwagon.....
This just in: IE market share down to 64.799% thanks to strohs.

I've been using Firefox for about 6 months or so. It has its benefits and limitations just like any program. But I use it almost exclusively at home.

clevebucks have you used it? I can't possibly live without tabbed browsing or many of the other features...

btw, I added up the totals and mozilla/firefox owns over 25% of the hits on BII and IE was down to like 65-70%... I was shocked...

just a few months ago it was like 5-8% firefox and 85% ie

I switched over to Firefox several months ago and I love the tabbed browsing, etc. My spyware scans have repeatedly turned up nothing since the switch. I won't go back to IE.

But from either side you look at it, the competition is gonna be good. Maybe this is just what almighty MS needed to get some innovation...

BFS twisted my arm until I tried it a few weeks ago, and I haven't used IE since. The nifty tabs and the quick link bar are terrific, and the popup blocker is rather nice, since my old IE never had one.

I've tried Firefox quite a bit both at home and at work. I just don't see the real benefit. Tabbed browsing is fine I guess, but I don't see the difference between a bunch of boxes in the browser or a bunch of boxes in the taskbar. I don't want to worry about compatibility with Web sites, something I noticed right off the bat when I tried Firefox. Some sites just don't work right in Firefox.

I'm knowledgeable about computers so the spyware never affects me anyways. Google is my popup blocker/search tool in IE and it works great.
