Michigan won 10 national championships by the time of 1948. Fifty plus years later, Michigan has garnered only 1 more.

To all faithful,
I've been a Michigan fan since i was 12yrs old, and watching the past 3 years of UM football has been at the very least to say... disappointing. A top 10 recruiting class every year and what does the University of Michigan have to show for it, a 7-5 record! Gimmie a break, our defense is terrible our offense is too conservative, the players so talented but yet lack the intensity needed to represent Big 10 Michigan football, which comes back to the coaching staff. What happened to Jim Herrman and the defense from 1997, you can't tell me that it has to do with talent because we have plenty of it. Michigan football may no longer be able to depend on 3 yards and a cloud of dust & a great defense but holy cow... play some freaking defense, how can you let a mediocre Nebraska (05') team score that many points. I'm sorry i've heard great things about Carr and his personal touch with previous and current players from people that have played for him, along with him bringing home the trophy in 97 but the University of Michigan can no longer settle for these below average performances. John Cooper was a great coach @ OSU but he didn't get it done against Big Blue so he was ousted, whether it be the head coach or the assistant coaches @ Michigan a change has to be made and made NOW! Because the players deserve better, the alumni deserve better and quite frankly I'm getting tired of explaining how the winningest team in college football loses 5 games in a season & can't win a bowl game!!! By the way, if Carr would end up being let go it would effect our recruiting for the upcoming season (s) by a huge margin but i'd rather get it over with while we're getting our asses kicked by everyone. We do look good for the next couple of years with the great young talent on offense and defense but I don't believe they'll have the opportunity to reach their full potential without some changes made to the coaching staff. By the way...just to show everyone how bad it's getting, I've lived in West Virginia all of my life and have bled maize and blue since i was 12 and this is the first time i've actively came out questioning the coaching staff and their decisions....
GO BLUE!!!
Gary Moeller, arrest record aside this guy won us the same amount of Big Ten titles as Lloyd (3) in half the time (5 years). Additionally, like Lloyd he lead us to two (2) outright Big Ten championships and two (2) Rose Bowls, but unlike Lloyd he actually won one (1) of them. Furthermore, he went 4-1 in bowls (he'd be 5-1 if they didn't credit his '88 Outback Bowl to Bo's record), was no worse than Lloyd with a 2-2-1 record against ND, and an impressive 3-1-1 against OSU. Lastly, he's the last coach to post a winning record with the Detroit Lions and was actually undefeated as their coach at one point in time - that in itself is impressive enough for me to want to re-hire him.
