don't believe it's at all necessary to have added in the fact that some of them were cheerleaders. It adds nothing to the story except extraneous, heart-string tugging, fluff. It should be tragic enough that 5 kids died, the media shouldn't feel it necessary to make sure to tell us they were cheerleaders.
Is it supposed to make us feel extra sorry for those four? Are we to now feel as though the fifth girl hadn't made as much of her life, therefore her death is somehow lessened? Does it make it more of a loss to the community that 4 cheerleaders will no longer be at the school, does it decimate the school's chances at a championship? No. None of that becomes true so why bother mentioning it?
