Got myself a new kite for Christmas. 4M Peter Lynn Twister 4-line Parafoil. Picked the 4M because it’s got some serious pull / lift and a pretty wide wind range so I can theoretically fly 8-15 MPH winds fairly easily. And even at 4M and 12 feet across it’s still small enough to do some stunts. I have a couple of other 2-line parafoil stunt kites from Prism for playtime when I don’t feel like getting in a full body workout with the Twister.
Anyhow, this is my first 4-line kite so I’ve been spending time watching some videos on how to fly a 4-line kite. It’s pretty much like a two line but way more control... and if the shit hits the fan you can depower the damn thing before you get hurt. Since the Twister is known for its lift and pull, it’s popular among those who don’t mind leaving tera firma. I have limited interest in breaking my legs, hence the video training.
Finally had some decent wind in Chicago this weekend and 50-degrees to boot. Got the kite up and the pull and lift promises were met. I had to depower a couple of times not to go in the air. I ended up getting pulled around the field quite a bit just trying to hang on.
