Hunter Pence plays baseball funny. That much is fact. One might be inclined to celebrate the autodidactic nature of Pence’s bizarre mechanics, though doing so would trivialize the distinct possibility that his central nervous system is simply wired differently than yours or mine. Whatever the case, he’s a hard-charging tsunami of flailing limbs and twitchy bats, and Major League Baseball is better off for it. Kids who emulate him, on the other hand, perhaps less so.
