One of the few non-John Deere vehicles we had was a Massey-Ferguson font-end lifter. It was great for cleaning manurer out of our sheep and horse pens. It also worked nicely for moving implements around the farm.
As for the older models, we still have and use my great-grandpa's 1939 Model B, which looks something like this:
We still have to crank start it when we want to use it. Hence, I always preferred my grandpa's 1949 model, on which my dad thankfully installed an electric starter.
