Favorite Small Screen to Big Screen Movie?

I just watched Serenity and have to say this was my favorite big screen movie based on a TV show, Firefly in this case. I thought the TV show was better, but the movie did not disappoint.

So, what is your favorite small screen to big screen (TV movie does not count)?

I'm not sure you would consider these "big screen," but two of my favorites debuted at the Sundance Film Festival: "Secretary" and "American Splendor." Donnie Darko would be up there, too.

As far as musicals go, I loved "Chicago" the movie.

The Fugitive is way, way up there in my view, great cast and it was one movie that really benefitted from the larger screen.

As anything Python is a continuation of their original TV series I'll put the Holy Grail on my list. Another comedy would be the first Naked Gun (derived from Police Squad).

Also an honorable mention for Connery and Costner in The Untouchables.

Finally Mulholland drive was originally a TV pilot, but failed on the small screen.

Overall Star Trek may have been the most popular; however I really liked Maverick.

Although I have never seen the original Mission:Impossible, the movies are excellent. Sadly, that is about it-most movies based on TV shows really, really suck. I think the Miami Vice movie coming out this summer will be an exception, b/c Michael Mann is directing it. Mann does not do bad movies-period.

Gee, I wonder why. Let me sum up the film using only smileys:

I'll agree with Maverick. It is one of just a few movies that get funnier each time I watch it.

SNL has had a bunch of good movies and probably many more bad movies. The Star Trek movies are much better than the original show. I've never seen the old old Mission Impossible show. The newer Mission Impossible show that they made back in the late 80's was my favorite show at the time. I wish they would put that out on DVD The MI movies are the only newer Tom Cruise movies that I will watch. Does Batman count? Batman, Batman Forever, and Batman Begins were all good. All of the stupid funny movie remakes have been pretty bad. Dukes, Starsky & Hutch, etc. I'll go see Miami Vice because it sounds like it is going to be an action movie. I can't think of any others right now.
