The Island is just out of view in top left corner.
It's only like 5-6 miles (straight line) in that general direction from the School in bottom left.

I may put tomato in my gumbo and live north of I-10/12 but I know a thing or two about down south. Used to go kayak fishing around Cocodrie, so I’ve passed through the towns down there a few times.
You did mention once that you were about 30 min south of Houma, which whittled down the possible options.
Based on the pic I figured was either Chauvin or Montegut with the stream by the main road. That little bridge on the right of the pic reminded me of driving through Montegut so that was my guess.

When I was in N'awlins I always got a kick out of running into real and authentic cajun families, I remember one in particular at the zoo. The way they spoke and their mannerisms were hilarious, like out of a movie.
