Favorite Firefox Extensions

NoScript is the first extension I download when I install a new copy of Firefox.

Right now I'm not running many more. Zotero to capture and manage citations and certain links. Interclue (although it's off 90% of the time) when I want to be able to mouseover links to preview what's beyond without clicking.

I use different browsers for different things, but I use Firefox most often. Opera is great, IE more compatible with certain websites I use. Then I keep one or two others around to check BP if and when I make changes.

I've not used morning coffee, but you can set your homepage(s) to open multiple sites in tabs. Just separate them by the pipe character |

Also, I've recently run across firebug (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1843).
If you do any web development, this is a must have. It has TONS of features.

Firebug integrates with Firefox to put a wealth of development tools at your fingertips while you browse. You can edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and j*vascript live in any web page.

is this similar to CoolIris Preview? (Cooliris)

I use Cooliris and it works pretty well, though sometimes it gets in the way because I don't want the preview box to open. That can easily be handled with a one click toggle on/off in the lower corner of firefox.

As far as other addons- AdBlock, FoxyTunes, Fasterfox, IE Tab, TabMix Plus are the ones I mainly use. I used to have ForcastFox and some Sports scores thing, but I didn't utilize them much and I felt that they just bogged the browser down.

This is a problem that I've noticed. Many of the extensions will ruin the performance of the browser. I try to keep as few active as possible.

Some of my favorites:

Fast Video Download - allows me to download flash video from YouTube which I can convert for iPod using another program.

Forecastfox Enhanced - Yes, it does slow down my browser. If I didn't have it though, I'd never know about the weather aside from what I'd find out by sticking my head out the window.

Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer - It's a lifesaver when you are recovering everything after reformatting (by choice or not)

Gmail Notifier - nothing special, but it's a must-have.

InFormEnter - An alternative to having the browser remember what you type, while giving you the capability to quickly enter text with the click of a mouse. I've been in the midst of a job search for a while, and this extension has made my life much easier when it comes to filling out applications.

There's an extension out for use with vBulletin that looks interesting. It's still "experimental."

FfvB - vBulletin Management for Firefox 2.2.4

Welcome

Here is some information that should help you around FfvB - vBulletin Management

Users: You can now ignore or highlight users, as well as removing their avatars or signatures... if the forum allows them.

Threads: Threads can also be ignored or highlighted whether viewing the thread list or while reading a thread.

Prefix: Some forums use the Prefix option to categorize threads. Now you can ignore or highlight these as well.

Keywords: You can set keywords into an 'ignore' list, as well as a 'highlight' list, and any thread OR post matching these words will be ignored or highlighted.

Bottom Bar: The bottom bar attaches itself to the bottom of the screen and is enabled by deafult. This can be removed though, by visiting the settings/options window and choosing 'Extra Options'.

The colors can be changed either in that menu, or by clicking the color icon in the bottom bar and setting the background and text colors there.

Each of those icons can be disabled as well.

Side Bar: The side bar is a way to view a thread list of your favorite forum without actually being there. Visit the forum, and click the 'sidebar' icon in the bottom bar, or go to the 'View' menu, choose 'Sidebar' and choose 'Threads List'. Or just press Shift + Ctrl + F.

You can set the reload time of the threads, how they open (in new tabs or not) as well as the alignment of the sidebar itself (left or right side).

Magic Paste: Magic Paste simply adds the
tags when you attempt to paste an image into a post. This works with quick reply as well as the regular reply/post screen, however there has been known to be issues with 'HTML Editor' option boxes, where you can see images right in the textarea.

Confirmations: You can enable or disable confirmations on actions such as ignore and highlight. This simply shows you a response that the action was performed correctly.

Debugging: Debugging will output information to the screen pertaining to FfvB's actions. This can be set for normal actions or for error messages. If FfvB suddenly fails to respond, you can enable error debugging and report the issue complete with the appropriate error messages.

Conclusion: You can get more information at TyCamTech.com. If you are satisfied that you know you're way around, you can disable this overlay icon in the bottom bar to save room.

I hope this makes your message boarding experience a pleasant one. If you have any comments, suggestions, feedbacks or issues to report, please visit TyCamTech.com and fill in the contact us form.
A review:

Fantastic

This extension does exactly what I was hoping it would- it can allow you to ignore a user on a vBulletin board completely. While the built in ignore feature on vBulletin will still show an ignored users quoted posts, this extension will block out their quoted posts completely. It does a great job of blocking out crap posters who have a habit of derailing otherwise good threads.

I just installed it and haven't found all the features yet.

Rehost Image works very nicely. Just right-click an image and choose "Rehost," and the new URL will be on your clipboard automatically.

It uses Imageshack's general service by default, but if you have an account and are logged in, the next time you go to My Images the pix will be there. If you have an FTP account somewhere, you can set it to use that instead.

Definitely the fastest way I've found to grab pix online.
