I am not a fan of xbox at all. I think it has a lot to do with the games, at least when they both came out PS2 was more of a console for Sports. I have always liked the way the controls are on the PS2 better than the xbox.

I am hoping that the PS3 is everything its hyped up to be, especially the bluray.

Your actually going to pay $700 for PS3 and then another $60+ for a game and proabably another controller which will be $30+. You looking at close to $1000 for a console system with one game and an extra controller after you add taxes in there.

All of that is not worth the price. If you want to spend $1000 get XBox 360 and Nintendo Wii, both combined with 1 game each and an extra controller each are less then what you would pay for PS3.

I guess you need to define "close to $1000." Let's say your numbers are right. $700 + $65 + $35 = $800. To make taxes easy and conservatively high, let's have sales tax at 10% ($80). That's $880. PS3 is not worth $880 to me. Personally, I think I'll wait to see what the prices of things truly are before I spend any money on any system. In my opinion, though, $880 is not "close to $1000."

I'm actually thinking more along the lines of $600 (console) + $50 (game) + $25 (controller) + $70 (high tax estimate) = about $750.

I don't see anyway to make that sound reasonable... unless you have very wealthy, very generous parents... or are making huge coin as a young person.

Hey, we're not all getting married at 23... I can't disagree that $750 for video games is crazy--but I'm doing it anyways! As a working bachelor I can certainly spare that kind of money for a next-gen console with DVD and Blu-Ray player (and all sorts of other inputs) to cover the next few years. After all, that's why I got that nice big TV!

The games will be more then $50, XBox 360 games are already $60. New controller will also be more then $25. New XBox 360 controllers are $35-40.

All of this is not worth the money. Like i said before, get the 360 and Wii for less then you would be paying for 1 PS3.

Ok how much is a new 360? 400+50(game)+40(tax)=490 so that is 260 less than a new PS3 WITH a BLURAY player. Obviously this is well worth the extra 260 bucks. Also I think sports games are much better on playstaion.

Will the 360 and Wii have Metal Gear Solid 4? Because saving money doesn't mean much if you can't play the games you really want.

The PS3 costs much more to make than the 360, which means yes, a greater initial investment--but also superior technology and greater upside. And while games MAY start at $60, the market has historically brought game prices down to $40-50 and I expect next-gens to follow suit.

Thats your own problem. You also have to remember that when PS3s first go on sale, they are only selling 10 million units. XBox 360 sold more then that in the first week.

All i'm saying is that Sony has dug themselves a huge hole and are trying to get out of it. Yes Blueray is an amazing technology but do you really need it in a console game unit? 360 has some pretty amazing graphics even if you play on a normal tv, let alone an HD tv.

XBox also has Halo, the best selling video game of all time. This is one of the main reasons you should get an XBox.
