Favorite Christmas Cookies

Snickerdoodles are THE BOMB!

But my mom also makes a cookie called Stained Glass Windows. Basically a pure chocolate/fudge type cookie but with colored marshmellows and coconut sprinkles.

Here's the assortment of Christmas goodies from my wife this year:
Double Chocolate White Chocolate Chunk Cookies with Pecans
Chocolate Raspberry Thumbprints (chocolate cookie with raspberry sauce in the middle
Chocolate Peanut Brittle
Peppermint Chocolate Bark (a bar-type candy)
Hershey Kiss Cookies (like Peanut Blossoms but no peanut butter in the cookie)
Shortbread Cookies
Snickerdoodles

But my favorite of all of her goodies are the good old traditional Sugar Cookies (or as some may call them cut-out cookies). mmmmmmm..... sugar cookies....

Unfortunately most of the goodies are for other people... but that doesn't stop bkochmc from sneaking a few! :sneaky:

I don't know exactly what they are called, but my wife makes these almond-apricot thumbprint cookies that are so good that she should probably be investigated by the NSA. And they are all mine.

I might get killed for telling you all this.......:frown2:

I love gingerbread, frosted sugar cookies and those Russian tea ball things...

We call them Mexican wedding cookies. I like the lemon bar things, w/ the gooey lemon type stuff in the middle. I went nuts at school yesterday because the chef class kids went crazy baking cookies for the last week, and they all brought huge bags of cookies to class-blonde brownies, buckeyes, hershey kiss cookies, snickerdoodles, some kind of brownie I have never seen before-chocolate pie crust type base, filling that tasted like Clark bars-it was awesome.....

They're known as butterballs around here. Some group of people must have had a bad influence on me, because I never really stopped to think about that nomenclature before, but now I have. Ah well.

Too many favorite cookies to mention, but here's a summary of the situation as it stands:

Things started off on the right foot.

And then... stage two... denial.

I'm at stage three now... delusions of semi-sweet grandeur.

When I was little we had an Italian immigrant woman who was nobody and everybody's grannie. She made these Italian cookies that were light in color and had a bit of an anise flavor, as I remember them. Haven't had them since and don't know if I would want to mess with that memory!

Dutch almond cookies, "amandel whatever"!
