Favorite Baseball Stadium

I've been to Dodger Stadium, Edison Field, Royal Stadium, Busch (old), Minutemaid, Ballpark at Arlington, Riverfront/Cynergy, Jacobs's, Tiger Stadium, 3 Rivers, Wrigley and Tropicana. (I'm not up on some of the name changes)

My favorite was Dodger. I thought it combined the history of the old ballparks with the cleanliness and comforts of the new parks. Great food as well.

I've been to all of them, except Florida and Arizona, and I'd rank them:
Wrigley
Fenway
Pac Bell
Camden
Yankee
PNC
Coors
Jake
Arlington
Enron

I might be forgetting one or two, but that's the general list. Wrigley is by far my favorite, Minnesota and Oakland (my favorite team) are the worst.

I've been to a bunch in Japan too. The atmosphere of a Japanese baseball game is the closest thing I've ever seen to Ohio State football, but that's a whole other post.

Uh, the Jake, but I haven't been to any others besides 3 Rivers and the Astrodome. 3 Rivers was a bitch to play at on a 90 degree day. The Astrodome had the AC going on a 100 degree day in July back in the day. Oh I've also been to Toronto which is a pretty cool stadium.

Houston Astrodome preservationists debut the worst song in the history of music

In the meantime: we’ve written a bit over the years about the fate of the Astrodome. It hasn’t been used since it housed Katrina refugees in 2005. It’s rusting and obsolete and requires over $200 million to renovate the place back into usability. It’ll cost way less to simply wreck the place, though even the price tag for demolition is high. In short: there are no great options for a stadium that was once cool and state of the art but is now a giant mess.

Enter a November 5th referendum in which voters will decide whether to authorize over $200 million in bonds to turn the stadium into a convention center and exhibition space. Like I said, I’m skeptical of such things, but at least democracy will sort it out. Unfortunately, democratic ends often require a public campaign. And the public campaign to save the Astrodome has this working for it. And please: to fully appreciate it, watch it all in all of its hathos and glory:

Posted on twitter today, what's left of Candlestick Park:

Note: The demolition of Candlestick Park is a slow moving process due to the decision to bulldoze, rather than implode the old stadium.

Do you love to go to a game to have a day out with the family? Or would you rather take in a game solo, to relax with a beer and a hot dog?

Everyone's ballpark personality is different -- and this quiz will determine which ballpark fits you and your bucket list best.
