Hi everyone,

I'm posted this over @ autographs, but couldn't find out anything. I'm a huge Buckeye fan, but will only be in town until the 16th. I was hoping anyone knew of any event this week or next (being the first week and all) that I could catch a glimpse of the team. I wasn't sure if anything was happening for Picture Day, or if there was an Autograph Session tomorrow or Friday. I really wish I could stay to see that practice on the 21st, but I have to go back to VA.

On the plus side, the last time I couldn't make it back to Cols. for a whole season, we won the Championship.

Thanks for your help.

Every thing is closed til the open practice on the 21st or 22nd(Can't remember). I don't think the team has autograph sessions(Official ones) until later on/after the season.

Maybe I'm wrong, but the chances of you seeing a team practice outside of that open night practice is slim to none.

Like many, I was at first startled to not see Chris Wells on the two deep. However, after I thought about it, it makes sense within the concept of how Tress thinks in such situations. Pittman and Mo Wells are upperclassmen and are known quantities to the coaches. Tress seems to give precedence to upperclassmen, particularly in a situation like now when we are in the third day of practive. It is my guess that either a) Chris will emerge on the two deep in a couple of weeks, or b) Tress will try to hold him below the line of sight of other teams by downplaying his capabilities. (Hard to see how that would work, given the pub that Chris has already gotten).

I see only two F(reshmen) on the two deep now. One is Josh Kerr and one is Homan. I believe I am correct that both are older, experienced players than pure freshmen, so that is not surprising to me. I suspect no true frosh would be expected to emerge on the two deep this early. Do other posters agree with this?

Go Bucks!

Both Homan and Kerr are true freshmen...

since the start of the Cooper era its not uncommon for freshman to start. wether or not they started class early or not. some would have started anyway or did. Pace, Ginn, for example. They all know they have the chance to start as a freshman and I imagine that some expect to.

I would not be surprised at all to see one or two more froshes make the 2-deep by the NIU game (C.Wells, Coleman, Rose, C.Smith, ect). No doubt that Homan and Kerr's play this spring helped them reach the 2-deep by the first fall practice

Kerr commited to Miami (Fla.) out of high school in 2004. He was going to grey shirt but couldn't make it past their admissions. So he would be a bit older than the average freshman. Homan graduated early but to the best of my knowledge isn't older than any other freshman

Agreed. I think Coleman could get some time at NB, C. Wells is just an obvious talent that we'll use, and Rose is a physical specimen that could work his way in. Smith may need a year to work on his pass blocking.

The OSU football office has just released the following notice:

The Ohio State football team will hold an open practice under the lights at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium (cap. 10,000) the evening of Aug. 21. The team and coaches will be available to sign autographs between 7p.m. and 8 p.m. followed by a two-hour practice, which is also open to the public and media. Admission is free. There will be a charge for parking.

Hopefully my OSU parking pass will let me park for free.

In regards to the nickle back, I believe either Anderson Russell or Jamario will play nickle back. Brandon Mitchell came in during nickle situations for us last year, but not at the nickle back; Whitner would slide down as the thrid corner and Mitchell would take his safety spot. We blitz a lot out of our nickle formations and like to put someone with elite speed as our nickle back, which leads me to think it will be Jamo or Anderson Russell. Run support is also important from that position as more and more teams run from the spread.
