No way he leaves after one season. Not when we will be in the hunt for a NC. I see departures after a NC. If he is HC material, the offers will just increase in quantity and quality. I agree though, he is a smart guy and certainly has a HC way about him.
Exactly. Herman is too talented to coach at a small school. He has been around the block and done his time. A few years of seasoning under Meyer and he will be running his own show.

Practice No. 6: Notes and quotes
August, 10, 2012
By Austin Ward | ESPN.com

Quick hitters from a media session after Ohio State practiced on Friday morning near the end of the first full week of training camp.

Staying put: Bradley Roby might eventually present a two-way option for the Buckeyes.

For now, the sophomore cornerback is going to have to wait until he's proven a little more on one side of the ball before jumping to the other.

"Well, he’s one of those guys who thinks he can fly to the moon also," co-defensive coordinator Everett Withers joked. "He’s a talented guy, but we want him to be great at being a corner. To me, he’s still working to do that.

"Let’s keep him on defense so we can see if we can make him better as a corner."

We'll see if Coach Herman stays for long or if he gets a head coaching job after this season because he's a talented guy.

If and when the "right HC offer" comes along he should take it; it may not come by again.

One word. Injuries.

We wouldn't have lost to Nebraska had Miller not been injured.

Exactly. That's why we need Guiton to be ready. It sounds like he will be.
And the offensive line is very thin.

But every team has the same issues.
Who has a backup QB equal to the starter?
What every team doesn't have is what we got on the D-line! That will win a lot of games.

I don't think 1 season at OSU is going to be enough to prove he can be an HC at a significant program, regardless of what we think about him. He has a chance to really make a name for himself in a couple of years when the offense is reaching it's full potential.

On the rise: Bucks who are impressing staff
August, 17, 2012
By Austin Ward | ESPN.com

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Movers and shakers as identified by the offensive members of the Ohio State coaching staff that met with the media after practice on Friday morning.

RUNNING BACKS

Stan Drayton won't have his projected starter heading into the season opener in just more than two weeks, but the next guy on the list for the running backs coach has embraced the opportunity and established himself as a viable option in place of Jordan Hall.

That's a far cry from how Drayton viewed Carlos Hyde previously, and a positive development for the Buckeyes in the backfield.

"Night and day. I didn?t coach Carlos last year, I coached those wide receivers, and with kind of side vision, I thought he was a little lazy as a football player, quite honestly. The one thing that he?s improved on is his approach to the game and his passion, energy level is through the roof right now. He has really escalated his value to this football team."Carlos Hyde is the one who has really stepped his game up. I mean, he really has. He?s answered the ball, he?s trying to become a leader of that group with Jordan out, and he?s really brought a physical component to his game right now that we all enjoy. He?s really set the bar for these younger backs." -- Drayton

BTN Bus Tour at OSU today. Lots of updates on Twitter from Revsine & Dinardo. OSU show air tomorrow night at 10pm.

https://twitter.com/BTNDaveRevsine

@BTNDaveRevsine
1 thing that always stands out w #buckeyes is how physically ready some of frosh look. Taylor Decker would be exhibit A.

@BTNDaveRevsine
Offense has scored in each of 1st two possessions in #buckeyes scrimmage. 2nd O helped by big 3rd down pass from Guiton to Tyrone Williams

@BTNDaveRevsine
Hankins looking good - 2 sacks against 2nd offense in 1st 2 possessions of #buckeyes scrimmage. 1st D just got a 3 and out

@BTNDaveRevsine
2nd straight 3 and out for 1st D vs 2nd O. what you want when it's 1's vs. 2's.1's generally having way both sides, but 2'a having moments.

@BTNDaveRevsine
Another TD for the #Buckeyes 1st O - Philly Brown with a nice long run to set it up.

@HowardGriffith
OSU practice today is as intense as I've seen. Buckeyes #BTN

@BTNDaveRevsine
Another big play for Philly Brown. This time on a run after a short reception. Has fit well into this #buckeyes offense

I'd say after 3 years is when it will start getting legit, anything before than would likely be smaller programs which he'd pass on, IMO. He'll make a good HC one day, lots of energy, passion, funny guy....boosters will like him.

I know we don't like to get ahead of ourselves here but what do you guys have for over/under on spence's sack total this year?

Clowney had 8 sacks last year. With the way the team is talking about his ability I will go 8 to match Clowney.

BTN Bus Tour #Buckeyes Overall one of the best run practices we've seen, so far best team we've seen, so far best young talent we've seen

Gerry DiNardo@gerrydinardo
BTN Bus Tour #Buckeyes Braxton Miller's improvement is significant in all parts of his game - perfect fit for offense -will improve accuracy

Gerry DiNardo@gerrydinardo
BTN Bus Tour #Buckeyes I don't think you can win a National Championship in the spread unless you have Heisman Trophy @ QB OSU could have 1

Gerry DiNardo@gerrydinardo
BTN #Buckeyes Some spread staffs don't coach every dn during team periods or scrimmages because of fast tempo OSU staff never stops coaching

Gerry DiNardo@gerrydinardo
BTN Bus Tour #Buckeyes O Line good not great but under pressure to be tougher than in the past and much improved since spring practice

Gerry DiNardo@gerrydinardo
BTN Bus Tour #Buckeyes WR who are looked to have a good scrimmage C. Brown, M. Thomas - group better but not yet where coaches want them

Gerry DiNardo@gerrydinardo
BTN Bus #Buckeyes Looks like Carlos Hyde has separated a little from the RB group but enough talent in group especially in the spread off.

Gerry DiNardo@gerrydinardo
BTN #Buckeyes Young guys in the O/D lines really impressive & certainly an argument against those who say recruiting rankings don't matter

Gerry DiNardo@gerrydinardo
BTN Bus Tour #Buckeyes Experience depth at LB may be a challenge as season goes on.

Just reading through my twitter timeline and there's a definite sense of bitterness among the local journalists regarding the access BTN and ESPN have had during camp and how little access the local guys have gotten.
Noticed that too. I understand their frustration, but nobody wants to read their constant complaints on twitter. They're all coming off as very whiny and bitter today.
