I got you. The lack of consistency drives me nuts. I don't see any accountability by the league relative to the referees.

The "defenseless player" rule is the problem. You can drive a truck through the interpretation of that rule.

I must be old because we were taught to defend yourself at all times. If you got your clock cleaned that was part of the game.

The league has put the refs in an almost impossible position with "defenseless player" and "helmet to helmet" rules.

I have a hard time calling anybody wearing a full suit of body armor "defenseless" - punters and place kickers included.
