Hey all! I'm new to Buckeye Planet and would love some feedback from the fans of the Buckeyes. I consider myself a NFL Draft "guru" it is my passion to study film on NFL Draft prospects, sometimes more than the actual game itself. Over the years I've had some hits (ranked David Johnson my No.2 RB last year, Le'Veon Bell No.1 the year he came out) and I've had my misses (said Cam Newton would be a bust). I run a series of draft profiles on this year's group of prospects before I run my final mock draft which appears all over the interweb. I recently scouted Ezekiel Elliott and I have found getting feedback from the fans that watch the player week in week out provide a great prospective on his abilities.

And I would love your take on it. Obviously he is the No.1 back in this year's class, but it was hard to find a lot of weaknesses in his game. Anything I missed? Should have added as a strength? I appreciate it Buckeyes Nation!

Touche'. Then again I'm battling the flu and even more of an ass than usual. That said, first thing putting on the tape when watching him in pass pro should be that's its about the furthest thing from a weakness of Zeke's.

Right, he had 109 pass-blocking attempts and gave up zero sacks or hurries, or so I read... Eleven Warriors, I think, though I also think some here speculated that that was inaccurate.... that he gave up 2 sacks on whiffed blocks

As we know, his lead blocking on designed QB runs or HB/WR sweeps is nothing short of devastating.

To our guest who appears to be new to watching Ezekiel play football, he is possibly the best back I've ever seen without the football and his coaches have said that repeatedly (which is where I stole it from). His effort, tenacity, execution and consistency as a blocker is tremendous.

Scouts began tweeting about it this year with good impending declaration but he has done it for years. It's not just excellent pass pro either. He is a wicked lead blocker and seeks out contact.

The Braxton spin play was all about the downfield blocking and not just seek. He started in the hole as we blocker took on one man then ran another 15 to 20 yards to detonate the would-be tacklers that would have ended Braxton spin move carry at about 10 to 15 yards.

He exploded onto the scene as a freshman on special teams where he nearly murdered a Purdue Boilermaker.

NFL Comparison: Fred Jackson


I get the desire to compare more "average" players that are realistic in production. But Fred wishes he had Eze's top gear and first cut. Haven't seen enough of Fred Jackson off the ball to comment on that - and it's important for any Eze comparisons.


Looked around the web to see what others are saying... man this is gonna be funny in a year or so when so many fools are picking Henry as a better prospect.
I saw some guy post a video claiming Eze isn't good b/c Ohio State makes holes (true), has no agility (leaps over people?), has no acceleration or speed (oh?), not elusive (seems a false dichotomy being set up here... if you're physical you can't be elusive) ... proceeded to go on a rant about how NFL safeties will stop him. Yea, just like Eddie Jackson and Landon Collins.

At first I thought... Maybe not that bad a comparison... Then realized I read it as Fred Taylor.

We're trolling at this point.

I think it's hard to come up with a comparison for him.
Marshall Faulk ? There's some tradeoffs though... and it's a bit much to go straight to HoF.
Maybe Matt Forte ? But he's a liability in blocking and proven receiver.
Few guys have his combination of speed and physicality... a lot of the ones that offer comparable benefits w/o the ball are more accomplished receivers.

The best I could think of would be Forte or Ladainian Tomlinson. Again, there are always small differences in the intangibles.
