in cell A1 =2,000,000/1440 (formatted hh:mm) i get 21:20 (displayed on my screen)

Try this excel formula:

=CONCATENATE((HOUR((A5/24/60))),"hr ",(MINUTE(A5/24/60)),"min")

The number of minutes (e.g. 200) is in cell A5 (or whatever other cell).

If you put 200 in A5, what the formular yields is: "3hr 20min".

EDIT: I think you'll be able to use this formula without any special field/cell formatting.

I'm not doing anything basically different from Scooter with my formula other than the cat function and the built-in formatting.

In my formula I'm divinding the minutes by 24 (hours in a day) then by 60 (minutes in an hour). Scooter says divide the number of minutes by 1440 (which is 24*60).

2,000,000 mins is way more than a day
2,000,000/200,000/20,000 all output 21hr 20 min

if i enter 5,000,000 i get 5 hr 20 min

it appears the use (cell#)/1440 is going to be accurate. and format the cell to 37:30:55

The 37:30:55 under the time category should give you the correct format for the output.
