Ever had bad side-effects from a medicine?

I had a reaction not to a medicine bu tto a vitamin. I took some Niacin once, recommended daily dose, and within 2 minutes my blood pressure was sky high, I was light headed and dizzy, my entire upper torso turned bright blush red and I ITCHED. It wasn't a scratchy itch it was low level electric-current arcing on your skin kind of itch. Lasted 10 minutes. I had almost decided to go to the emergency room.

yep.. allergic to all opiates, including synethic ones... anaphylaxis. Makes life aboslutely miserable if I am in pain or have to have surgery, nothing like getting Advil post-op. :(

Don't know if I'm allergic to all opiates, but I'm not willing to test it and find out. And I agree, Advil after surgery just really sucks. Also can't take penicillin, makes me puke my guts out.... just not fun stuff, not at all.

I wouldn't consider it a bad side effect, although some would vehemently disagree (namely Mrs. Katt), but a prescribed sulfa drug gave me extremely noisy and highly toxic gas. I would take the pill right before bed and then spend my night of sleep filling the bedroom with most unpleasant aromas. It even woke the old lady up it was so offensive.

I really should call the doctor to find out what those were prescribed for......so I can get it again to get more meds! :groove:

not medicene per se, but Fat Free Lay's potato chips gave me anal leakage one time.

Oh, and White Castle sliders - horrible side effects, but those usually effect those around me more than me.

Is alcohol medicine then, too?

If so... I've had all of the afforementioned side effects... and... more.
