Or know someone who has? I have a friend that is dating a girl he met in a chat room. Well... they've gone out a few times so I'm not sure I'd call it dating yet. Any have any good stories?
 
a friend of mine told me that he met this chick online and they were going to meet and go on a date. he told me her name and where she was from. so i talked to some other friends and it turns out that someone knew her, and she was a hippo. now me being the friend that i am, i of course did NOT tell him this before hand and only told him that i heard she was a really nice girl with a cute face!

its still a running joke b/c he met her and within 20 minutes faked getting a page from work and told her that he had to go and hasn't talked to her since!

Do you mean from chat rooms or dating sites as well b/c I know a few people who have met girls online and had good luck with it.

One friend actually married the girl he met.

yeah... me too. He told me that she sent him a picture and she looked pretty good. I told him that the picture could be of anyone :lol:. I figured he would meet up with her and she would be a guy!!

Seriously, though. I knew someone who met a guy from the UK playing EverQuest. She moved over there and married him! They're happily married, as far as I know. I haven't really kept in touch with them.

My psycho-stalker sister-in-law does it all the time. She is early 30's and dying to get married. Its actually quite comical and predictable.

She meets someone in a "Christian Chat Room" gets all excited about it. Calls our house 10 times to tell my wife all about him. I am sure she probably brings up marriage on the first or second call, and as soon as she gets the guys phone number she probably calls him multiple times a day. Anyway it always ends the same way. The either come to Columbus to meet her, or she goes to where they are to meet them. Usually within about a week after the meeting they either tell her to leave them alone, or just quit answering the phone, and replying to the IM's. Then she calls here to discuss what could have possibly gone wrong with my wife. My wife tries to explain to her that she is a lunatic, and she needs to back off a little, and she says she will, but the next one she gets on the line the same shit happens.

I find it to be both hilarious, and sad, which makes it even that much more hilarious to me.

I have a friend who was single for over 50 years and then tried eHarmony. Getting married this summer.

Also, I set up a three way with sushi-chick and brutusbabe, but they made me promise not to tell.

I never have, but know a couple of guys who have totally different stories. One guy's wife decided to meet up with someone she met in a chat room (They were having marital problems at the time). Well, he ended up raping her. Not so nice. Another guy I know used to hook up with girls all the time that he met on the internet. He was just looking for some easy lays and he said the internet was the best place he had found.

I talked to a chick online over the Christmas season in '95, thinking it was a funny, harmless little thing. She was from Southern Cal, I was living in Lancaster OH at the time.

One weekend in February '96, completely out of the blue, she calls me at work (I'd never, ever spoken to her on the phone before) and tells me she's in a motel in Columbus waiting for me to come and see her! :eek:

I decided what the hell and wound up going to the motel to meet her. We had sex for 72 hours straight, then she flew home. I ended the relationship when I, for lack of a better term, told her I thought she might be a bit 'out there' and was 'looney toons.'

I related all of this to a guy I worked with at that time, who was amazed that there were actually freaky nymphos like this on the Internet. I told him which chat room I met her in and he started logging in.

He ended up moving to CA and married her later that same year.

I've also driven to East Lansing with a bud to stay in a dorm room at MSU with a chick that he met online, that relationship never went further than wild weekend sex too. I have had opportunities to get involved in relationships with a girl from Plano, TX and another from Ocean City, DE, but I never pursued those.

A lot of people knock the Internet dating thing, but it's really quite simple to fall into it without even efforting. I mean, you're in a chat or on a message board, and before you know it it just happens. I never got online with the intent of meeting chicks, but it happens.
