Choked up, threw up

First game I started in football. As the kicker for the opposing team was approaching the football for the game opening kick off, I threw up a projectile that probably helped like hell when I went for my block. The kid who was my assigned block probably ran away from me, although I can't remember.

I think the only reason that I didn't tear up at the scUM game in 02 and the NC game in 02 was due to the fact that I was at both games and pure euphoria was too overwhelming.

I tend to get emotional at the beginning of games when the team takes the field, the band enters, the singing of Carmen Ohio at the end of the game.

The biggest tears down the cheek moment for me was when I took my oldest son to his first Bucks game. It was fall of 2001 and the game was the one that had been moved due to the events of 9/11. I am sure that just being there with my son would have been emotional enough, but with the other circumstances involved, it was overwhelming for me. Watching my son absolutely take in every wonderful aspect of a home game, seeing the awe and wonderment on his face, well just reliving that right now tends to get me a little misty eyed.

Senior year, Regional Long Jump 1st flight. This was to Qualify for the State Championship. Up till this point, myself and a kid from Juneau were the favorites(Bill McClinton, I shit you not). Half of the flight never got the call to make marks so we had to guess our marks. I jumped 21' 6" a personal worst in competition and he jumped, I think, a 22' 3", also very bad. There were 3 people (all from small insignificant schools) that were not good jumpers that qualified. Bill and I were both in tears. Our coaches petitioned the judges, to no avail. They said the call to First flight was broadcast, yet neither coach nor any of the competitors of the two largest and most competetive schools in the region heard the call. It was worse than losing to Juneau 99-33 my sophomore year in BBall. At least then we sucked and we knew it, and we did give it all we had.

Besides all of the aforementioned tOSU games, the one time that comes to mind is when Ben Curtis won the British Open. I played in junior golf tournaments and college tournaments against him growing up and it was really neat to see him succeed on a world stage like that under all that pressure. I just love seeing players come through and hit good shots when all the chips are on the table.

NC championship game got a little choked up. Being there just made it even more sweet.

I wouldn't say choked up...but the loss to michigan state the year we went to the rose bowl. I remember Thump, buckeyegrad and I just sat there in shock. finally one of the ushers came up to us and told us we had to leave. None of us relized we were just about the only people left in the stadium.
