COLUMBUS, Ohio - After winning its home opener, the Ohio State baseball team is set to host its first home weekend series of 2015 as the squad takes on Evansville Friday-Sunday at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. Game one will begin at 5:05 p.m. Friday with the middle game at 3:05 p.m. Saturday and the finale at 1:05 p.m. Sunday.


PARKING FOR EVANSVILLE SERIES
There will be multiple events held on campus this weekend. Fans should park north of Bill Davis of Stadium or south of Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Fan can enter the lots from Fred Taylor Drive (second entrance by JOMS) or Olentangy River Road. Parking will also be available by Biggs Athletic Training Facility.

ON THE BUMP

PERFECT IN MARCH

The Buckeyes are a perfect 4-0 to begin the month of March. The Buckeyes took the series finale at UAB March 1 before earning a two-game series sweep at Western Kentucky March 8-9 in Bowling Green, Ky. Last time out, the Scarlet and Gray won the home opener vs. Northern Kentucky, 4-3, last Wednesday on a walk-off hit by pitch.

During the four-game stretch, Ohio State is hitting .299 as a team with a .438 slugging percentage. The Buckeyes are outscoring their opponents 24-11 and have collected eight doubles, three home runs and 20 RBI. Offensively, Ryan Leffel has gone 5-for-9 at the plate with two doubles and four RBI, while Aaron Gretz is 5-for-10 with a double and three runs scored in the last four contests. Senior pitcher Trace Dempsey has picked up two wins in the last four games out of the bullpen, allowing just one earned run in 5.2 innings pitched with four strikeouts. The pitching staff has collected three quality starts out of its starters as well.

NOTES FROM THE OPENER
• Freshman pitcher Jacob Niggemeyer made his collegiate debut vs. NKU. He threw six innings and allowed just two runs on eight hits, one walk and two strikeouts in a no decision.
• Sophomore Troy Montgomery extended his reached base streak to seven-consecutive games, while senior Connor Sabanosh has reached base safely in six straight contests.
• Sophomore Ronnie Dawson tallied his second home run of the year, going 2-for-4 at the plate with a stolen base, two runs scored and two RBI.
• Freshman Tre' Gantt scored the gamewinning run in the bottom of the ninth after Sabanosh was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

SOME MORE NOTES
• The Buckeyes are 6-1 when scoring first and 7-0 when leading after eight innings.
• The Ohio State pitching staff has not allowed a home run through 12 games of 2015.
Craig Nennig is hitting .381 (8-for-21) with runners on base.
• OSU starting pitching has combined for nine games of 5+ innings pitched and has six quality starts.
John Havird is limiting opponents to a. 188 average (3-for-16) with runners on base, while the OSU bullpen has a 2.84 ERA in 38 innings pitched.

SCOUTING EVANSVILLE
• The Purple Aces are 6-6 heading into the weekend series in Columbus. Last time out, Evansville fell, 5-1, at Belmont last Wednesday.
• Evansville is led offensively by outfielder Kevin Kaczmarski who is hitting .448 this season with a team-best 13 hits. Outfielder Korbin Williams has a team-high two home runs this year. Outfielder Josh Jyawook has a team-best 12 runs batted in, is tied with Kaczmarski for a team-high 13 hits and is second in batting average (.361).
• The UE pitching staff has a team ERA of 3.39, while opponents are hitting .252 this season.
• This will be the first meeting between the two schools.
