ESPN Gameday season preview

If anyone wants a good laugh, then go to the michigan board on rivals. You would think that Bush predicted Iraq to win the war, so much crying and everything. Michigan fans are the most arrogant sons of bitches alive its amazing.

Herbie is destroying the idiots with his knowledge of the teams....Corso has been good as well. Mark and Trev look like idiots...and Herbie is making sure that is obvious.

It is a whole different show when they have all of the guys on one set. The knowledge and research done by Herbie and even Corso this year tops May by a mile. I was surprised by Alberts as he seemed more controlled, but you know his idiot self will return just a couple of games in the season. May was really getting on my nerves at the end. He seems to base all of his predictions on what the team did the previous year regardless of what changes have occured in the off season.

All I know is I am actually excited to see South Carolina play as it means college football is here!

edit: I love the prediction that Notre Shame could be 0-6 to start the season.

What did Herbstreit ever say about the allegations? He made a comment about the offense but never said anything about the allegations or the program.
I think some people hoped he would have been a little more vocal on Ohio State's behalf. I was one of them. In retrospect, he was in an extremely difficult position... literally caught in a war between his employer who has provided him with a great living and every guy's dream job and his beloved alma matter. I know at the time, I was pissed off at him... looking back, I think he handled it about as well as can be expected under the circumstances. Sure, he made a stupid comment about recruits not wanting to come here with the offense, but I imagine he said that out of frustration. Besides, I'd bet a lot of fans were probably thinking the same thing to themselves.

In my "walkthrough" (gameday prep for next Saturday), I'm sitting here watching my DVD of the '03 Fiesta Bowl while sippin' on a few beers. This DVD that I bought off ebay includes the Game Day one hour pregame show, as well as the SportsCenter that followed. It is amazing to me how spot on Herbstreit's pregame analysis was. He called how the game would play out almost perfectly. He is bar none the best at what he does.

And how Mark May is on television is beyond me. He and Albert's comments during last year's Alamo Bowl will forever be unforgivable IMO. They actually managed to ruin for me what was a great Buckeye bowl victory. Whenever they're on television, I get so pissed off that I tune them out and I can't even tell what they're saying... but I know its absolultely stupid.

I agree entirely. However, I did expect Herbie to be a National analyst on ESPN as he is paid to do. An aggressive defense of his Alma mater before all of the facts were revealed would have led to a loss of his credibility inthe national market. He was extremely vocal concerning the Alamo broadcast where May and Alberts trashed geiger and tOSU. IIRC, he was on ESPN radio saying he could not wait to see them at the Orange Bowl to voice his disapproval.

At the time I didn't. But I think back then, things were so emotional and heated, many of our fans were not thinking straight. My hatred for ESPN has dissipated.... my hatred for Mark May, Trev Alberts and Tom Friend has not.

Based on him laughing at the end of the show I would say he really does not respect the opinion of Alberts and May. He was probably thinking "Get these idiots away from me. Corso is enough!"

Yeah, that totally makes up for what was said last year regarding the Clarett allegations just b/c Herbie picked us to win it all on some dopey preview show. Intelligent.

Just as I predicted...the anti-Herbstreit asswipes have come out. :roll1:

buttholeboy, you have no room to be speaking about intelligence. You whine about what you think is disloyalty, spoken on that same "dopey" show, when in reality Herbstreit was being what he was supposed to be--an impartial, unbiased analyst. Come back when you get out of fuckin' puberty...

It was re-aired this morning. I don't know if it will be on again.

Its fun to watch these guys and see what they think. But I know what kind of team we have this year, and what the guys on ESPN say isn't going to make us any better or any worse. So I really could care less that Herbie and Corso picked us to win it all. It's fun to see, but it doesn't mean anything.

Herbie's comments about the recievers were right on. And Corso's comment about having the best defense in the country may be true, it's up to the D-line. We still have some questions on the D-line. It could be a great D-line...but it honestly might not be anything special this year. Same thing with the O-line. And that was the one good point the Mark May had about Texas. They have great lines...lots of NFL talent. We have lots of NFL talent off the lines. That's what will likely keep Texas in the game on the 10th...otherwise I don't see why Ohio State couldn't win by 17.

Trev's comments about not having Troy Smith were stupid. He acted like we will be without him the whole year. Who cares what happened with Ohio State's offense at the begining of last year...this years offense looks to be the best since 1998...and for him to say that they will be terrible just shows how little he knows about Ohio State.

I loved when Herbie talked about how Texas being ranked #2 and being the better team over Oklahoma on paper hurts them when it comes to beating Oklahoma. The other guys thought he was nuts...like the mental game didn't matter. Herbie knows...he watched it happen many times in the 90s with Ohio State and scUM. We would go into The Game thinking, (maybe this year), and they would go into the game thinking (we are gonna win). And that lost us games. It's gonna be Texas' biggest problem. Sometimes it takes a new coach to do that. If Texas loses again to Oklahoma this year...they might need to think about that. That's why I like the mentality of the Texas/Ohio State game. I think both teams go into the game REALLY expecting to win. You don't get that too often, especially when it's two of the best teams in the country. That's why I like Tressel. I don't care if Ohio State was playing the New England Patriots...his team would still go on the field expecting to win. That's such a big factor in college sports.

May and Alberts are so gay. I have no idea how even ESPN can put up with them. Corso and Herbstreet are very entertaining and have little bias. All sportcasters will have some bias but May and Alberts are ridiculous. They don't belong in the same studio with Corso and Herbstreit.

I'm with Mil here Buckyeboy. You talk shit about Herbie, yet I'm sure you'd be the first one to kiss his ass if you ever met the guy. Can you blame him for venting his frustration with the whole OSU saga? Hell, I was frustrated....but my every move isn't scrutinized by everyone and thier twin brother. I'm sure that I've said things in the past that would make others think that I may not be a homer all the time.......I think this is the case with Herbie.

Herbie still is a loyal Buckeye.......and it showed last night. So please spare me the smartass comments about that preview show. Hell, it seemed that Herbie and Fowler were the only ones who did their homework.
