On Nov. 15th, Eric Best from Olentangy Liberty signed a letter of intent to play for Ohio State.

Best was the ace of the Patriots' pitching staff last season, going 7-2 with two saves, a 1.65 ERA and 87 strikeouts with 28 walks in 55 innings. The left-hander, who was the first-team all-district in Division III, played first base when he wasn't on the mound and was one of the Patriots' leading hitters with a .333 batting average, two home runs, 27 RBI and 18 runs.

"I liked every place I went (to Visit), but Ohio State just felt right in my heart," Best said.

Of the six left-handed pitchers on Ohio State's roster last season, five will be gone by the time Best arrives on campus.

Best, whom Liberty coach Matt Lattig calls a power pitcher, should have an opportunity to contribute right away.

"(The Ohio State Coaches) said how much I play as a freshman depends on whether I prove myself," he said. "If I prove myself to the coaches, then I will play as a freshman."
