Just thought you guys may want to help us beat the hell of Michigan in this also....

I've been to Death Valley (aka Clemson memorial Stadium) a number of times... Touching Howard's rock is something else. Never been to tsun to see that shithole but a stupid banner vs a rock from Death Valley that was placed there by the legendary coach... can't beat that.

This thread brings up an interesting question about Big Ten culture, and more specifically Buckeye culture: Which do you care about more, sticking it to your arch-rival or supporting your conference?

Neither answer would be a bad thing. But it gets to the point of whether the Michigan "hate" or whatever you want to call it is actual factual hate or just a rivalry.

For example, Oklahoma was Nebraska's arch-nemesis in the Big 8. I grew up in an era where we couldn't drive around town without seeing bumper stickers on ten vehicles that said something like, "Better Dead Than Sooner Red," or, "If I Owned Hell and Oklahoma I'd Live In Hell and Rent Out Oklahoma, " and, "My Two Favorite Teams Are The Huskers And Whoever Is Playing The Sooners." But the reality was, they were part of the family, and I'd root for the Sooners every game they played - but one.

So does it work this way in general with Michigan? Will you support the Wolverines against Clemson, or do you just like to see them squirm and you'll vote for Clemson?

Most of couldn't give a rat's ass about the poll, but in an actual game most of us support TSUN in the early non-conference games. It's better for tOSU to have the B1G get non-conference wins. When they get to a bowl game, it can't really help tOSU's situation, so many of us are happy if they lose the bowl.

Generally, we pull for the B1G teams to win all their bowl games, but we laughed at TSUN as they didn't lateral the ball to Steve Breaston on that weird final play in their bowl game a few years back against the Huskers. Here's the thread during that 2005 Alamo Bowl game, you might get a kick out of it.

Personally, I'm happy if they go 11-2 every year. Undefeated when they lose to tOSU, and then they also lose their bowl game so they don't get any juice from a top-5 final ranking. But the B1G divisions would now feature a rematch in the CCG if TSUN is 11-1 with their only loss to a cross-division Buckeye team that won the Leaders Division, so that line of thinking has to be re-evaluated.

But you can expect that a big majority of us will pull for UNL in their September games, and in their bowl games. There could be some folks who'd want UNL to lose their bowl game if it's immediately after a UNL win over tOSU in the B1G CCG, but I think it's safe to say that those doing that out of spite would be in the minority.

That game was hilarious. We had no business winning that game, except for the fact that Zac Taylor had more guts than any QB I've seen in a LONG time. That guy got waxed every game, but kept getting back up, kept plugging away. And Pork Chop was a hell of a fun RB to watch.

On that last play, there was an instant where it looked like the Michigan player's knee might have been down (and wasn't), and you could see the Huskers visibly relax. I think that's when everyone went on the field. I'm at home, jumping up and down shouting "That's a live ball!" and everyone is looking at me like I'm a lunatic. I think I kept that up until we made the final tackle. We're just damned lucky a couple of Huskers were paying attention - and that the Michigan oaf didn't lateral it to Breaston, who would definitely have taken it to the house.

Tyler Ecker....same guy that ran out of bounds on the last play of the OSU-UM game that year. :slappy:

I think being a fan of the conference is an SEC thing. In Buckeye country, there is no such thing as a "win" anytime scUM gets a W. Just take a look at the unmitigated glee in the game thread of the App. St./UM game from a few years back. That day still brings back fond memories for me...
