For those that have never been to SF it's a very homeless friendly city and there's people walking around everywhere that look like they just stepped out of a cave. They're worse than the bears at Yellowstone when it comes to begging, they'll walk right up to your car at stoplights and pretty much demand you give them something. Classiest move ever... The guy who emptied his pocket to see it thrown on the ground quietly picked up every last penny, turned to the homeless person and said, 'this is what separates you and me... I appreciate every one of these pennies.' And then he walked away.
A few of us who saw it all applauded and went our ways.
