I'm surprised I have never heard of Ball before tonight's game. He is really good! Also he set a record in 1-A that beat Jerry Rice's record.

Think you meant IAA?
I think ESPN had a short feature on him midseason when he set the record. He looks legit though, and has a great attitude.

I was able to watch all of the first half and some of the second (switching from OSU game at commercials and half.) I thought Downing did very well...I rarely if ever though he got beaten by his D adversary. Anderson Russell was visible, but I did not see him make any notable stops.

I am always a little suspicious in both these East-West and North South games that the hosts, always located in either West or South, that the team selectors tend to invite relatively weaker team members from the other region. Today, at least, with Tate, Breaston, Downing, etc. they had some pretty good players for the East, so I may be off base. Not that they and mates showed near enough to win this evening. I thought the commentator's comment that nobody playing this evening was likely to be a first rounder (perhaps he said second also, I am not sure) I thought there were some that might be first two rounders.

It will be interesting to see how the Senior Bowl plays out, as it appears most of the big names migrate to it nowadays. That wasn't always the case, as the East West Shrine Game attracted the big names in the '60s, perhaps '70s or later.

Go Bucks!

This snippet from the game report sums up what can go wrong and right in these all-star games.

Shula rotated quarterbacks Drew Tate of Iowa, Lester Ricard of Tulane and Matt Gutierrez of Idaho State on consecutive plays for much of the game.
Reeves elected to have each of his three quarterbacks play entire quarters, starting with Beck, then Rowe, who completed just four of nine passes for 115 yards. Zac Taylor of Nebraska played the entire second half when the West had only three possessions and both teams were scoreless. He was sacked three times.
Consecutive plays? That is completely unproductive and self-defeating.
