Dylan Raiola (QB Nebraska, transfer to Oregon)

I’ll go on record saying this will be a swing and miss for Lanning.

Just sayin': Well first off, Ohio State was much better off with Howard and Sayin as the QB1 in 2024 and 2025.. In addition, Ohio State is very fortunate that he "flipped" as we might not have gotten Sayin had Raiola already been here for 2024. Needless to say Raiola wasn't ready to start at QB for Corn in 2024; however, his stas did significantly improve in 2025 though. The best thing that could happen for Raiola is for Moore to come back and sit behind him as QB2 for a season. He would still have 2 years of eligibility (2027 & 2028) to potentially be QB1 at Oregon. Apparently he really wants to be at Oregon and is willing to sit a year......

Dante Moore, Dylan Raiola in the same Oregon QB room? It's possible Ducks use Nebraska transfer as 2026 backup

The Nebraska transfer QB committed to the Ducks ahead of Moore's pending NFL Draft decision

Raiola's process

Other teams have looked at Raiola this cycle, including Louisville, but there's been a single team Raiola's camp focused on -- Oregon.

That's the school the family had strong interest in, and they've made that known consistently to the Ducks brass. Thus, it should come as no surprise that once Oregon's season ended in the semifinals, Raiola ended up on campus the next day for a visit.

Oregon's recruited other quarterbacks this portal cycle, including now-Oklahoma State QB Drew Mestemaker. Yet Raiola appeared to be the first transfer quarterback that made it to campus this cycle.

The interesting wrinkle with Raiola is his camp communicated to Oregon, per sources, he'd be willing to sit behind Moore for a year if Moore were back in Eugene for the 2026 season.

Raiola is yet to redshirt. He could do so in 2026 and still play two more seasons in 2027 and 2028. Raiola and his camp view Oregon as his best chance to compete for championships and develop, which makes sense given the Ducks' last three QBs (Bo Nix, Dillon Gabriel, Moore) have leapt up draft boards upon transferring to Eugene.

It's a strategy Moore employed two years ago. He started as a five-star true freshman for UCLA in 2023, transferred to Oregon that offseason and sat behind Gabriel for a season. Now, he's being talked about as a potential second overall pick.

Raiola and his camp see a similar path as possible even though they'd prefer to just be Oregon's QB1 in 2026.

The only way he possibly sits for a year is if the market is bad for him. How can Oregon pay him 7 figures to be a backup? Even they dont have unlimited funds.
Just sayin': For all practical purposes....yes they do.

Phil Knight Is 86 Years Old And Desperately Wants To See A Championship, So He's Providing Oregon With Unlimited NIL Resources

With a Net Worth of $36.8 Billion, Phil Knight is Oregon’s Richest Individual

Phil Knight, born and raised in Portland, Oregon, co-founded Nike in 1964 alongside Bill Bowerman, his former track and field coach at the University of Oregon. Initially operating under the name Blue Ribbon Sports, the company sold Japanese athletic shoes before adopting the Nike brand in 1971.

Knight retired as chairman of Nike in 2016, but he and his family maintain a 20% ownership stake in the company. With a current net worth of $36.8 billion, Knight ranks as the 24th wealthiest individual in the United States and the 51st globally. While his net worth peaked at $49.9 billion in 2021, it has since gradually declined.

Knight and his wife, Penny, have donated over $3.6 billion to various causes. In 2023, they pledged $400 million to revitalize Portland’s historically Black Albina neighborhood. The couple has also made substantial contributions to the University of Oregon, funding the Matthew Knight Arena (named after their late son), the renovation of Hayward Field, and the establishment of the Phil and Penny Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact. Phase two of the Knight Campus is currently under construction, supported by an additional $500 million donation from the Knights.

Beyond Oregon, their philanthropy extends to Stanford University, where Knight earned his MBA. The couple has donated more than $500 million to the institution. Additionally, the Oregon Health & Science University Knight Cancer Institute bears their name following a $100 million donation.
