  • I remember this guy had a killer mullet. Died too young.

Former University of Florida basketball star Dwayne Schintzius, who also played in the NBA, has died after a two-year battle against cancer. He was 43.

Ubet can correct my memory if I'm wrong but I think Schintzius was on the Gator team with Vernon Maxwell and Andrew Moten that drilled highly-seeded Purdue in the NCAA tourney in the Carrier Dome back in the day. The guards were the better players but because of his size and hair it was impossible not to notice Dwayne.

I remember seeing a clip of Gene Keady ripping his team in practice the following year about being too cocky before playing Florida. Seems kind of odd 25 years later.
