OHIO STATE DEFENSIVE TACKLE TOMMY SCHUTT ANXIOUS TO RETURN AGAINST ILLINOIS AFTER MISSING 2 GAMES WITH BROKEN WRIST
Tommy Schutt recorded his first solo sack of the season with a broken wrist.
"Tommy Schutt, who by the way, just had surgery. He'll be out on a wrist. He should be back in a couple of weeks. He's out for this game," Urban Meyer said Oct. 19, two days after Ohio State beat Penn State, 38-10. "Hope to get him back. He played very well. Had a sack and a tackle for a loss. This was all with a broken bone in his wrist."
The senior from Glen Ellyn, Illinois, is set to return to his home state as the No. 3 Buckeyes visit the Illinois Fighting Illini Saturday at noon, but will also suit up for the first time in two games. He missed Ohio State's victories over Rutgers and Minnesota as he rehabbed from the injury.
"It’s all good now," Schutt said Wednesday. "I’ll have to play in a cast, but I’ll be out there Saturday, looking to make an impact."
Schutt's 20 tackles this season rank fifth among Buckeye defensive linemen. He's played nose guard all season prior to his injury, taking on blocker to open up avenues for guys like Adolphus Washington, Raekwon McMillan, Joshua Perry and others to make tackles.
"It’s really just a pain thing," Schutt said. "But it hasn’t bothered me too much, I’ve been out there at practice this week. It’s felt pretty good."
