Troy, Ohio, defensive tackle Todd Denlinger has known for some time that Ohio State was the place that he wanted to be, a fact that was only confirmed by his official visit to Columbus over the weekend.

Todd Denlinger said he couldn't have asked for a better time at Ohio State.
“It was great,” he told BuckeyeSports.com. “I don’t think I could have asked for a better time. Everybody was real cool. It was a good time.”
Denlinger was hosted on the visit by freshman offensive lineman Ben Person. He also got the chance to hang out with several other recruits, including fellow verbals Rob Schoenhoft and Austin Spitler along with Minnesota linebacker James Laurinaitis, who became one of the newest members of the recruiting class over the weekend.
To hear Denlinger tell it, the bond that those four developed over the course of their 48 hours on campus played a large part in Laurinaitis’ decision to attend Ohio State.
“I think we got him hooked,” Denlinger said. “He came here and I think it opened his eyes a little bit as far as seeing everything.”
The coaching staff made sure that the recruits did in fact see everything. Denlinger and company did spend some time observing practice and touring the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, but they also spent a large portion of their time touring the campus and meeting with academic advisers.
Even though Denlinger was an Ohio Stadium regular during the 2004 season, his official visit gave him the chance to learn even more about the university as a whole.
“I actually learned quite a bit,” he said. “I had never really been on campus that much so I didn’t really know what it was like. Being able to see that helped me out a lot, (as did) meeting with the academic people.”
With a GPA of 3.8 and an ACT score of 23, Denlinger has already passed through the NCAA Clearinghouse, but he is still planning on re-taking the test because he knows he could do better. He also plans to throw shot for Troy’s track team in the spring before beginning his Buckeye career next summer.
