Southeastern, also featuring defensive tackle Johnathon Hankins (6-3, 320) and quarterback Edward Thomas (6-1, 178), will take on Detroit Cass Tech on Saturday. The Technicians feature several Division I prospects of their own, most notably four-star cornerback Dior Mathis (5-9, 175) and Illinois commitment Daniel Easterly (6-4, 195).

Defensive tackles are heavy favorites

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Ohio State certainly is in the market to try to land a rare 'A-gap' plugger. While they seek Floyd, Johnathan Hankins of Southeastern High School in Detroit, who is 6-3, 320 pounds and ranked 49th nationally among defensive tackles by Scout.com, also is on the Buckeyes' radar.

"I'm still leaning toward Ohio State," said Hankins, who planned to make an official visit to Virginia this weekend and said he also is considering Florida, Illinois and Wisconsin.

"At Ohio State, I feel real good about the coaching staff," Hankins said. "And they run the defense that I like. When I'm at the nose, I can do whatever I want to do to make plays."

The great thing about Hankins is he's the perfect compliment if you have a MLB like McVey who can blitz the gaps about as well as anyone. So although he may not be as highly ranked as some other DT's, I think because of the athletic MLB's we seem to be having, an A-gap DT is much more valuable than his ranking represents, or his talent alone.

The Bucks need to add some depth, it would be great to get at least one of these talented space eaters. It sounds like Hankins might need a year to mature before he is really ready to compete for time, but he sure has the measurables to become a great addition to the Buckeye nation.

Question for the power's that be. Would we take both.
You mean both Hankins and Floyd? If so, then the answer is "yes".

Of course, both have some academic issues right now, so their offers may be conditioned upon getting the requisite grades and/or test scores.
