  • I moved my dsl modem and router across my office and had to run a new phoneline/jack to accomplish that. Now my modem won't pick up a DSL signal. The new line i ran parallels an electrical cable - I surmise this is a no-no. Is there a way to shield the DSL line? Any advice for doing this, short of just putting the modem/router in the cellar near the phone line splice box thingy?

    Thanks.

Did you run a whole new line or did you extend the existing one? Did you test the new jack to see if it even works at all?

I ran a new line - the old one wasn't long enough to reach the new jack location.

As far as testing it...um...I was going to do that last night but had to baby-sit at our friend's house and didn't have time. I'll try our phone in the new jack tonight...
